The
Brainerd Parks and Recreation people were today’s speakers. Bonnie
Muzik and Tony Sailor were at Sertoma to talk about their
programs.
Bonnie has been with the program for 26 years and she is very
enthusiastic about all of their activities including the 130 youth
teams involved in baseball and softball and 86 adult softball
teams. But, she did not come to talk about those; instead she
talked about a program that has been in place for 15 years thanks
to Sertoma.
The Frisbee Golf course was initially sponsored by our club and
was the first one in our area. The nine hole course usually sees
about 100 people a day starting at 7 a.m. and going until dark.
Frisbee golf uses a “driver” and a “putter” disc. This free
activity usually involves a minimum investment in these discs that
last for years. It is a family activity which is fun for kids and
gets them interested in playing real golf. Bonnie added, “Thank
you so much. This course has brought such joy to people including
groups from A Tech and the high school who are part of regular
leagues.”
She then talked about plans for future expansion which includes
an 18 hole course in the new park within the next five years. In
the meantime, the current course needs upkeep including new
baskets. Tony and Bonnie gave out some tournament shirts to 5
lucky winners at the end of their presentation. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

| Sertoman of
the Day |
Another
entertaining young man has joined Sertoma and will definitely be
an asset to both the club and the community. Nate Grotzke from the
Benchmark Property Group was born in Minneapolis, MN but moved
here 15 years ago with his family. His father is a pastor of
First Baptist Church and instilled in Nate with the idea that he
needed to get out and see that there is more to life than just
Brainerd. Nate has traveled quite a bit including a trip to
Brazil.
He attended Lake Region Christian School and Pillsbury College.
His first real job was at Herberger’s and he worked in Radio Sales
until he joined Century 21 in 2004. He is a member of a four
person team at Century 21 that has done work throughout the area.
Nate joined to meet other people in the community and to be a
better part of making the community better. Part of the fun of
listening to Nate talk was his explanation of how he married his
childhood friend and how his most embarrassing moment involved
their favorite endearment! |

community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the
opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as

thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive
feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the
