Program
Brainerd Sertoma SpeakerBrainerd will soon see the advent of a new bowling alley and today Sertomans got the spare and strike info from the entrepreneurs who are building this facility sporting 24 lanes and some very unique choices of activities. Kevin and Ginger Lawrence who own Wadena Lanes will be living on site to oversee things in the beginning. Jack's House Family Entertainment Center is located on the way to Radco at the junction of 18 and 25. Their virtual reality room will feature both firearms (don't bring your own) and golf. A 3000 square foot arena is set aside for laser tag, perhaps a new family outing for the Sertoma Club to consider. The restaurant facility will be "more than just a burger joint" with seating for 175 to 200 people. Other amenities include a pro shop, a large arcade, and outdoor patio with volleyball in the summer. If Bob Nibbe or Greg Straka wants to win a sawbuck they need to call Pam this week. Business people wishing to advertise during league and family bowling can make use of their new "rolling marquee". Kids can enjoy supervised play in the toddler room with advance notice. It will open October 1st with free bowling the 25th, 26th and 17th. Call 824-5225 for more details on this offer. The ninety-five lucky Sertomans in attendance were able to pick up a free beer or soda card.

The Pillager Serteen group is disbanding. Thanks for all your hard work Brenda Meech--we miss you at Sertoma.

As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. Sertoman of the Day
Jim PotvinOur illustrious new president Jim Potvin took the plunge as Sertoman of the Day today to start off the revived program that attempts to introduce you to new and old members of the club. Jim is very much a staunch Brainerd native who loves his hometown. He has a wife and two girls and has been a Sertoman for 5 years. He has worked as CFO at Brainerd Medical Center for 6 years. He enjoys the outdoors and the wildlife that goes with it. His most embarrassing moment came when some of the facts of breast feeding were revealed to him as a much younger sibling with a new baby in his sister's family. He has been very active in the Sertoma Club and his sponsor was John Nelson.
Rumor Corner:

  • Mark Engstrand has been entertaining guests from out of state.
  • Karla Nelson is practicing to be a mother-in-law.
  • Where has that handsome debonair banker of all trades Reed Campbell been lately?
  • The world is not ending, but Bob Sherman did come to two Sertoma meetings in a row.
  • If you figure out who to embarrass from these photos submitted to me anonymously so be it. As newsletter editor I am sworn to secrecy.

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:  http://communities.msn.com/BrainerdNoonSertoma/_whatsnew.msnw
