Gary
was our guest speaker today and provided us with some motivation
for the upcoming year. He showed a short video he saw at his
recent trip to the Sertoma International Convention that
featured some familiar movie clips. Gary delved into the
accomplishments of Brainerd Noon Sertoma and the limitless
possibilities for us with "together we can accomplish anything!"
Brainerd Noon Sertoma is more than just a Service to Mankind
club - we are involved in helping each other. While Nationally,
there has been a decline in volunteerism, (National Sertoma
membership went from approximately 35,000 to 21,000 in the last
15 years), Brainerd Noon has grown. Gary then presented some
awards; Beth Burnard for a being Treasurer this year, Deb Ryan
for being Secretary who also developed a New Member Orientation
Manual, and Brenda Meech for her outstanding work with the
Serteen Club, which has 20 members currently. Gary had two
additional awards for members that were not present. Our club
did make it as the "Biggest Club in the Nation" and Gary
commented that Brainerd Noon Sertoma is the Best Service Club in
Brainerd. Gary again stressed the importance of growth and
stated, "If we ain't growin' - we dyin'" He closed with some
additional footage from his video. |

A special apology from Pam for only including one FAS winner last
week and none this week. My dog was almost killed when another dog
attacked him and it has been a hectic few days. He is getting
better. Thanks a million Kevin Goedker for helping me out
with notes and pictures. |

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond. |
