Sertoman of the Day
Rory Coit was our Sertoman of the Day.  Rory is a North Dakota native.  He was in dairy farming from 1977 through 1985.  He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Richmond.  When the farm economy went bad, Rory moved on to greener pastures to Brainerd in 1985 and then on to Aitkin where he was the mayor for six years (won on a write-in vote).  In 1994 he moved his family to the Bay Lake area where he and his wife own their own business, Wooden Nickels Gift Shop.  Rory is also employed with The Office Shop.  He has three daughters - a senior, junior and freshman.
Sertoma lost a valued member with the death of Jon Haapajoki on Wednesday, October 27th, after a valiant fight against cancer.  Visitation will be Saturday, October 30th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.  The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, at the Brainerd High School Gym.  Arrangements are being handled by Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.  Cards may be sent to Jon’s family at 273 Kenwood Court North, Baxter, MN 56425.
