Sertoman Speaker - Steve RazidloSteve Razidlo who is the new Assistant Superintendent of School in the Brainerd system was today's speaker. His mission--to express the appreciation of the Brainerd Schools for Sertoma's long term involvement amounting to tens of thousands of dollars supporting the sound amplification equipment in the classrooms.

Steve Augustinack helped to explain how the amplification systems work and talked about the difference between the older phonic ear equipment and the new updated infra red equipment. Mr. Razidlo remarked, "The fixed and mobile systems allow our hard of hearing students to participate fully in classroom activity."

Further discussion revealed that everyone in the classroom benefits from being able to clearly understand the teacher. This partnership with Sertoma has allowed the School District to make great strides in meeting the strict requirements set by the "No Child Left Behind Law". He also expressed appreciation for our involvement in vision and hearing screening activities.

When the question and answer session was over, Sertomans had also learned a great deal about what the Brainerd School System is doing to protect children from intruder violence. One interesting fact is the law which now requires 5 drills a year in each school to deal with safety issues in the event of intruders.

Thanks Matt Hanneken for taking notes.
