Bridget
Allen who is the coordinator for the Lutheran Social Services
Caregiver Support and Respite Program was today’s speaker.
Bridget showed us a locally made video that gave us a better
idea of what this innovative program is all about. The main goals
of the program are to provide caregivers of people over 60 years
of age who need supervision but do not have special needs with
some time away from their responsibilities.
Volunteers are specially trained to go into the homes and work
with the clients, freeing up the caregivers for rest and
relaxation activities that will help them stay well themselves.
Things the volunteers do with the clients include playing games,
working on home projects, and taking them out for some fun
activities.
For more information, just call Bridget at 1-800-488-4146,
especially if you know of someone who has need of this program.
Respite care according to Bridget is like having another member of
the family who is there to listen and to help. Bridget’s area
presently includes Crow Wing, Cass, Wadena and Todd counties. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

| Sertoman of
the Day |
Merle
Ihne, III was today’s honored Sertoman. He comes from an
illustrious family of educators and most will recognize his mother
Sally as the retired President of Central Lakes College. His
significant other is Eva and she works at Magnum Electrical
Contractors.
Merle himself works for a company called Digital Entertainment
and specialize in Satellite TV installation including Dish Network
and DirecTV. He is also a Nextel and T-Mobile agent. He will soon
be involved in Clearwire, a wireless broadband internet service.
Merle combines an interest in numbers with an interest in
acting—he has been involved in many plays throughout the years. He
joined Sertoma in 1996. His hobbies include broomball, golf,
baseball, softball and poker. One should not hold the fact that he
is an Iowegian against him!! |
