Board Report Rory Coit was joined by Steve Augustinack in presenting the monthly Board Report. The main issues that were covered included:
  • United Way Contribution - The Board has still not decided how to contribute to the United Way. In the past we have contributed a lump sum of money to cover those agencies which are not on “our” list of sponsorships. As Rory and the United Way Representatives explained, their agency is revising its plan for distributing funds. Rory and the Board would like input from members who have an opinion about whether we should designate where our contribution goes or allow the United Way to decide.

  • Board Minutes and Agendas - Rory explained that Board Minutes and Agendas will now be available to all members through the email. The Friday before the Board Meeting, Pam will forward the minutes for the last meeting along with an agenda for the meeting to everyone through the email. Rory wanted to make sure that we understand that the minutes are unofficial and may be revised at the meeting. He also explained that the Board is working with a handicap since Jim Potvin resigned and he is again doing double duty.

  • Sertoma Cares Pilot Project - Steve Augustinack presented the program which has been approved. Jackie McCall initiated this idea to help those students in the seventh grade at Brainerd Schools who have a significant need for eye examinations or eye care and are unable to afford it. Those students are identified by the school nurse and Sertoma Cares (Communications Are Essential in Schools) along with the participating eye care professionals will provide the necessary exams and glasses at cost. Questions from the audience centered on programs already in place and whether we are overstepping them.

  • Budget Items - A basic sponsorship budget for last year was discussed. It will be published in the next report when it contains a breakdown of the under $300 contributions. New items authorized for payment at this meeting included $500 to Nunnik Fund Raiser.

Thanks Diane Ulmen for taking notes.

Greeter Schedule
Remember: Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you can't. Call Patty Hartman.
