Program

We met the rookies today. Since we didn’t have a program, Rory took the opportunity to tell us about how important it is to get the rookies involved in our activities. He complimented this year’s group for a great rookie party and for their immediate impact on our club. Each of them present at the meeting had the opportunity to introduce themselves and do a little “mini Sertoman of the Day” speech.

Rookies - left to right in the picture included Matt Pecarich of Century 21 who is a proud new papa and likes basketball.

Next is Sarah Nelson, an Audiologist and new home owner.

Rhonda Mareck of Brenny Funeral Home is single and likes to shop.

Jeff Marchand is single also and still does not get weekends off after 21 years with Cub Foods.

Bryan Jelinski also works at Cub, can’t remember exactly how long he has been married but don’t tell his wife, and loves outdoor sports.

Randy Hukriede from Pollution Control Agency carries his work into his life since he also loves outdoor activities.

Stephanie Thurlow took a minute to explain that Pitney Bowes is the company that does postage meters and then got a big laugh when she had to admit that John Raboin was her sponsor.

Gene Farone told us about his family including his two children and his wife Shelli, who is the new office manager at Camp Confidence.

Dick Stoltman has retired, loves to hunt and fish, and finally has enough time to join Sertoma.

Greg Meierhofer from People’s National Bank just told us “Yes, many embarrassing moments!” and then went on to talk about being involved in his son’s activities.

John Linn of First Federal Savings Bank talked about being a water-skier forever (John and Linda are seated).

Linda Twaddle is with Good Samaritan and loves to be outside especially on the water.

This looks like a splendid crop of Rookies who can go on to get their GEM Awards and continue to be active participants for many years to come.

Thanks Karen Owen for taking notes.

Greeter Schedule
Remember: Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you can't. Call Patty Hartman.

Of Note:
Thanks to all who participated in the Ditch Pick and the recent Maddens Pipe and Drape!! Special thanks go to our amiable host for the Ditch Pick, Rick Besmehn from Lakes Area Paint and Body.

Thoughts and prayers to Les and Lucy Franz as they travel to California to be with her very ill sister.
Rumor Corner
  •  Arthur Murray Dance Studio is currently employing Raboin. The girls he dances with can verify the current rumor about whether he has hair on his palms or not. Has Mary Marana joined the fantasy job crew or is she really working for NBC Channel 11?
  • Saddle shoes, creased pants with a cuff—what every well-dressed ditch picker wears according to Karla Nelson (Clausen didn’t have time to change).
  • Pam missed the ditch pick—sorry very sick so no new pictures of the crew. It was great to see Charlie Bartels, Dave and Donna Burggraff, and Bonnie Franke among the group.
  • Bryan Jelinski approved his message when he signed in but it cost him $2.
  • Dave Pundt was the very late guy today—Mike Boen just barely beat him.
  • What black b**** is keeping company with Dick Stoltman on the weekends. Don’t panic, she is 8 weeks old and learning to be a bird dog.
  • John Linn is the Brainerd Dispatch wakeboard king.
  • Pantomime Phillips got fined today for some gesturing!
