Linda Twaddle from Woodland Good Samaritan Village and brand new
member of Sertoma was today’s guest speaker. She and her able
bodied or should we say able treed assistant brought a breath of
Christmas to our group. They were here to invite Sertomans as a
club and individual business to become a part of their new
fundraiser designed to kick off the holiday season. The Festival
of Trees is modeled after other successful programs in the state
including Rochester which now exhibits 200 trees a year with a
net profit of $100,000 for their charity. The Good Samaritan
Society’s mission of building “Christian Communities of Care”
will benefit from this as the proceeds will go towards the
construction of Samaritan House—a gap home for seniors. The
Legacy at Cragun’s Resort will be the site of the Festival of
Trees from Sunday November 23 to Saturday November 29.
Individuals and groups sponsoring a tree have the choice of 10
foot ($1,000), 8 foot ($700) and 3 foot ($300). This price
includes an allowance for decorating costs. Designers will be
available or groups can do their own plan. This year the
Samaritan tree will be the 12 foot one. Next year includes a
plan for a children’s tree that will be 14 feet. The trees will
be auctioned off in a silent auction and a live auction,
entertainment, Sugar Plumb story time, marshmallow roast, arts
and crafts sale and much more will be included. The Gala Opening
which will be the time where the trees will be auctioned will be
a gourmet dinner from 5 p.m to 8 p.m on Sunday. Groups
participating get 2 complimentary tickets and the rest will be
sold. For more information call Linda at 218-855-6622 or email
her at ltwaddle@good-sam.com. All week long groups from the Good
Samaritan home, day cares, schools etc. will be enjoying this
maze of holiday beauty. Plan on bringing your family to see the
trees and start a new family tradition. |

Schedule |

Remember: Greeters
(Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting people
at the door and getting the ticket money counted and divided
with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for the
social committee's budget). As greeter you have several duties.
You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to
greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket
if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided
by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Club Treasurer (Diane
Rook Johnson) and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

Find a Sawbuck Corner: Call 829-7761
The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the
newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from
reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS
followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just
leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to
collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never
respond.

new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy
to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any
