Joel TerweyYum Yum! If you missed today's meeting you missed out on two appetizing treats. Julia Sullivan from Godfather's Pizza will have a surprise for those of us who hung onto our business cards we got last week from her. Our speaker for today, Joel Terwey, came bearing gifts also. He presented Tami Webb with a check for $2900 which was raised for Sertoma by Appleby's with their opening parties. He handed everyone a card good for a free appetizer the next time we stop at the restaurant and order an entree. Joel explained a little about his background. He comes from St. Cloud originally and has a large family. His last place of residence was Marshall and he says he is all moved in in Brainerd and liking it. The second week Applebees was open they broke a national sales record taking that away from another Minnesota store located in Bemidji. His customer callbacks have given him a #1 rating in the whole state as of right now. He promoted the new features of Applebees which include late night happy hour from 9-12 with 2 for 1 appetizers and drink discounts. He also explained that they now have curbside service for those people who just want to pick up something and take it home. Just call ahead, place your order, and they will meet you at the curb with separately packed delicious full meals to take home. When asked if they planned on adding on since they were so busy, Joel replied, "It is not Appleby's policy to expand a restaurant". He explained if things get too busy, another location will be opened up in the area.

Orientation
Orientation: Julia Sullivan, Peter O'Dell, Ina Luca, Jason Bertram, and Cheryal Lee Hills were the new members who can officially join in the fund because they have been through orientation. They and several of their sponsors were at the meeting held at the Northwinds Restaurant on Thursday, October 24th.
Rumor Corner
  • Jim Potvin got pinned by the president today. When asked if that meant they were "going steady" he said, "I will wait for the dinner and a movie to figure it out."
  • Welcome back substitute sergeant Brian TwoBucks TwoBucks.
  • Who retired again after two long long long weeks of subbing at the Washington Middle School?
  • Brenda Meech was quite surprised when Tami Webb announced her upcoming birthday (would you believe 40) and the party her husband is having for her around 6 p.m. at their house.
  • Jeff Olson had to retract his offer of "free alcohol" for the Halloween Festivities at Camp. He meant to say "no alcohol" but everyone chose to misunderstand.
  • Who was willing to pay big bucks in order to campaign for Mary Marana for Baxter City Council because she forgot to include her in the campaign list in last week's rumor corner?
  • Bob Jones Ehrich has become a "swinger"?
  • Dale Bolt, the pigman, got fined for wearing a great tie and for harassing Straka.
  • Mike Howard's New Girls on the Block all seem to be the wrong gender.

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life.
