If all that you really know about soccer is that every once in a
while they have something called the World Cup and that it is
very popular in Europe and South America, then you would have
learned some important information from our two program guests
today. Soccer has become a very important sport to many people
in the area particularly the girls. Varsity CLC Girls Coach
Steve Kimball was very proud of his teams performance this year.
He came to Brainerd to teach Multi Media at Mississippi Horizons
and to work with the soccer girls at the college. He is very
acquainted with the area due to his grandparents, his
grandfather Chuck Warnberg, was sheriff for many years. Steve
was quick to give credit to the people who did the groundwork to
get this program started. His job he feels is to promote soccer
as "something for the girls to call their own" and another
option to stimulate community pride. He went over the
improvements the team has made in three years and was especially
proud of their defense which has reduced the goals scored
against them in a season's games to 15, which is less than one
per game and half their average three years ago. He says that
the success the girls are having is modeled on the German
defense and the Brazilian offense. He then segued into his
introduction of his co-speaker, Pete Olson, who coaches 37
junior high girls as well as serving as the Vice President of
Lakes Area Youth Hockey Association. Laura Beilke, who
introduced the speakers, wanted Pete to present to Sertomans the
vision of this organization fas 829-7761 Gar Phllips. Pete said,
"The soccer program is alive and well but we need everyone's
help". The association has a goal to provide more fields for
teams; at present only five are available. If you are interested
in promoting soccer in this area, the LAYSA Annual Meeting and
2003 Soccer Registration will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the
Mississippi Horizons School Cafeteria. Contact Laura Beilke
(825-8750) for more information. |

The latest clue was no surprise to most Sertomans--"I am
female".
I am generally a quiet person, but after a few beers things
just don't add up.
I am between five two and five eleven
I am married and have a family
I am a junk food junky, my weakness is chocolate-figure that?
"I love heavy metal/rock music, and so does our son"
(There have only been four guesses so far and all
have been wrong.) |

The special guest of Dave Pundt was a Joe Niklaus who was
representing the On Stage Community Theater. They had the pleasant
task of giving away two pairs of tickets to see the production of
Annie which starts tomorrow night.
Laura Beilke and George Moore
will be attending the performance. Annie runs for 8 shows at
Franklin Junior High School with opening night festivities after
the performance at Cafe Giardinos. Tickets are $10 for adult
reserved seats, $8 for general admission and $5,00 for children
under 12. This play is their first production and they have 25
committed people who have given up their time to present a
fabulous show. On Stage is run in conjunction with Brainerd
Community Education and their goal is to create opportunities for
people of all ages to develop talents in the theatre arts and to
provide a fun education and community oriented environment through
quality family productions. Of course Dave has a part in the play. |

Rumor Corner |
- Does Verna have Hawk tied up in a basement somewhere--he has
missed two meetings now?
- Edie continues to pick on Dave Clausen unmercifully,
something about a goose?
- Joe Schultes favorite band is "Meatloaf"?
- Who has changed her name to Trixie due to a new curly
profusion of hair?
- And just how did Scott Fisher get to go to the Twins game
last night--we all wish we knew.
- And why do we know have to call Todd Bymark "Big Head"?
Rumor has it that the 17th annual Oktoberfest on Friday, October
18 through Sunday October 20th is bigger and better than ever.
Many activities are free, entertainment features the Concord
Singers, Teddy Bear Band, and the Wendinger Polka Band, an Arts
and Crafts Fair, great food and golf.

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond. |

Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:
