The Gordon Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Governments located
at Central Lakes College provided us with today's speaker, John
Erikson. Mr. Erikson has been a practicing lawyer for 25 years who also enjoys
photography. The Center's goals are to identify and build leadership
capacity, improve cooperation between state and local government, to create
awareness among citizens of individual participation in our community and to
increase the impact of the center through partnerships and cooperation with
other groups - Civility 2000 is in association with the American Association
of University Women and the League of Women Voters. Candidates such as our own Paul Koering have
pledged to uphold honesty, fairness, respect for their opponent,
responsibility and compassion in their campaigns. According to Mr. Erikson
"Our goal is to raise the bar of behavior among individuals especially
politicians." But he also had a personal message for us. He encouraged all
the members to be aware of civility and not only to demand it in their
candidates, but also to bring it into their private lives. He ended on a
upbeat note with a handout called "Life's Little Instructions" which was
humorous and instructive.

Ryan Rosenwald was today's featured member. He works for Silver Star
Services and is involved in helping companies with all aspects of the
computer. His wife who ranked somewhere behind the two dogs in the family
part of his speech, is named Marcia and they met while they were in college.
He graduated from Augustana in Minnesota. He was born in MN, but since his
father was in the Air Force they moved all over the world. His hobbies include all
outdoor activities and sports. Look for Ryan out playing touch football,
softball, basketball, skiing, playing tennis etc. He is looking forward to a
future that includes children (not just dogs). His sponsor was Brian Skogen
and he joined our group in March of this year.
