Rory Coit fielded some nonsense questions about
curling and his sweater and still managed to convey a lot of
information for both new and old Sertoma members about the
function of the Sertoma Foundation. "Sertoma Foundation is our
own charity and a very important part of our club" remarked Rory
who has stepped up to the plate to be the foundation
representative. Our Region is the number one contributor to the
foundation. This year they are looking for a five percent
increase from our area that will help with matching grants,
scholarships, and supporting the other programs that promote the
cause of working with people with hearing loss. The number one
injury for our soldiers returning from the current warfare is
loss of hearing. Sertoma International and the Foundation are
combining next year to deal with a income tax glitch. This means
that the Sertoma Foundation dues will no longer be optional for
any club wanting to retain its 501C charitable designation. Both
Cathe Picek and District Governor Gary Walters contributed $100
to become "Fellows". Rory encouraged everyone to pay their $100
early next year and proudly wear their Fellow pins to the Great
in 08 Convention at Maddens. Rory also explained how the fund is
managed and the role designated funds like the two started in
our Region (The Jon Haappajokie Fund for Camp Sertoma and the
Sai Gau Scholarship Fund) are part of the overall picture. |

Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

Business Notes |
The
Jim Grant Electric crew was recognized at today's meeting for
their outstanding contribution to the preparations for the
Winter Wonderland. These two smiling fellows work for Jim.
Congratulations to Mary Kolkind-she moved Sears to a new
building located north on 371.
Congratulations to Steve Augustnack, John Raboin and Gary
Walters who are now members of the Rosenmeyer Board at the
College. |

Rumor Corner
|
- Congratulations to our new curling team which includes John
Raboin, Veronica Jensen, Jackie McCall and Rory Coit. They won
two of their first three games and Rory did a double take out to
put the third game into overtime. Unfortunately John was not
able to take care of business and they did lose that one.
- Bryan Jelinski, George Moore, Mary Marana and Pam Bye all
looked like they were passing notes during Rory's presentation.
HMM who gets after the naughty sergeants? Two other gigglers
caught in the act were Carol Winegartner and Anita Travica.
- Laura Beilke is headed for Key West--lucky lady.
- Dick Stoltman got in trouble for propositioning a sergeant
and definitely didn't want the rest of the story told!
- Sheriff Dahl looked spiffy in his new clothes today.
- Kathy Bittner-Lee and Carole Paulsen were the Bobbsey Twins
today!
