As
volunteers today we were high complimented by Mike Koecheler who
head up the Crow Wing County Volunteer Services Program known as
RSVP. He remarked, "Volunteerism takes a lot of humility, you
have to love people and love to serve." He continued, "Sertoma
is a beautiful example of caring in the Brainerd Lakes area."
RSVP has been around for 34 years and helped make Crow Wing
County #1 in the state that ranks third in the nation (based on
percentages) for volunteerism. The RSVP program currently
manages about 1200 volunteers and concentrates on those 55 and
up although Mike did tell us that he doesn't turn away anyone.
He came to Sertoma with a specific need--tax preparation for
those who cannot afford to have it done professionally. He
currently has 20 volunteers who complete the training which
takes about 40 hours. The number of low income and elderly
people served last year was 2000 and the number will continue to
grow. If you are good with numbers and have some spare time in
February and March contact Mike at 218-824-1345 to volunteer or
get more information. |

Sertoma flags at the Jaycees Ice Fishing Tournament and
Steve Rose and Doug Campbell will be in charge of seeing
that they are displayed. If you can help let them know.
Complete minutes will be in your email along with the agenda
for the next meeting. Please get any addition or changes to
Steve Mau at least a week before the December meeting. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

We received an very nice email from a local resident about the
Winter Wonderland. It read in part: I have just returned from
Charleston, South Caroline where I visited my daughter and her
family. While there, we toured the Holiday Festival of Lights. I
remember saying to my son-in-law, "We should have something like
this in the Brainerd Lakes area." Imagine how surprised and
pleased I was to come home and see that my community is putting
on a family event. How wonderful! I thank you for putting this
together. The Mayor issued a proclamation which was presented
and publicized last week supporting the Winter Wonderland. |

Business Notes |
Brian "Legs" Kirkpatrick is retiring from Wells Fargo Bank. His
Open House is at the Brainerd Wells Fargo from 1-4 on Monday,
November 26th. Let's all help Brian retire!
A note from Deb Kohan: Hope all is well - I miss seeing all of
my friends in Sertoma but still enjoy reading the newsletter to
see what is going on. I talked to Kathy Williams yesterday and
she suggested that I contact you and let you know where I am and
what I am doing since my move to the twin cities. I am working
for Wells Fargo as a Reverse Mortgage Consultant - something new
for me - same business but a new twist. If there is any way that
you have somewhere to make the announcement in the newsletter I
would love to let everyone know where I am. You never know who
may have questions on reverse mortgages and I would love to be
able to answer their questions. Thanks and hope you have a
wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday.MNDOT (we have a little
influence with Bob Nibbe) is providing directional arrows and
some signage for the Winter Wonderland. |

- Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. It was terrific to
see Brian Skogen today. Bob Sherman also joined us again--almost
an attendance record for one month for the big guy.
- Thanks again to Cathe Picek for bringing Judd into the
Winter Wonderland helper list.
- Paul Heinlen's new moniker is Tunnel of Lights Technician
- John Raboin was allowed to collect the blue ticket money
even though the winning ticket was defaced with ewwwwwwww his
gum!
- Joyce Frid is electric today--or so Gerry thought when he
stuck a bulb in her ear.
- Allen Hall got banished from the dog pound because he isn't
loud enough.
- We are all going to sit in different spots next week to see
if Sergeant Pam can fine us all for musical chairs.
- Poor Lori Rubin paid a fine because Bonanza is only
advertising CTC on select tables.
- Dave Clausen will do anything for money!!!
- Bryan Jelinski cheerfully paid his George Moore lookalike
surrounded by beautiful women fine.
