In
honor of the Holiday Season coming up, we had some special guests
at Sertoma this noon. Bryan Jelinski brought his meat manager from
the Baxter Cub Foods to demonstrate the proper way to carve a
turkey.
Rob did the honors while Bryan did the blow by blow.
The middle table got the pleasure of eating most of the turkey.
LoAnn Reponen pronounced it delicious and very moist. |
|
Bryan
and Rob were followed by our very own Dave Pundt affectionately
known as the Wine Dude.
Dave discussed appropriate wines to serve with both light and
dark turkey as well as other holiday meats such as ham.
Rule number one in wines is what tastes good to you. He
recommended Vouvray for turkey.
Thanks to Cub Foods for the enlightening and very yummy
addition to our meeting.
Dave tried to avoid getting fined for “clearing this throat and
making up wine names to cover it up” but our sergeants were
merciless. Thanks Dave for stepping before the microphone. We all
know how shy you are and how difficult it is for you to speak in
front of a group.
Thanks Dave Clausen for taking notes. |

| The big news from the Board Meeting was
the discussion of sponsorship funds and most significantly,

everyone who attended the meeting to discuss the issue. We are
still at 203 members. |

Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you

| Sertoman
of the Day |
Carole
Paulson was our Sertoman of the Day. She has been married for six
years to Jim Erickson and for those of you who wonder why she
still goes by Carole Paulson; it is because the initials of her
business- Carole Paulson Accounting- tell you exactly what her job
is CPA.
Carole and Jim have four children between them and 6
grandchildren. Her hobbies include crocheting, knitting, walking,
watching football and her favorite babysitting the grandkids.
Carole Paulson Accounting recently moved to the Riverdale
Building. According to Carole, “Tax laws change frequently so
everyone needs a CPA to keep track.” Just call her next week, she
is planning on attending the seminar for the new tax laws and will
have all the answers. Carole has worked for other people but she
enjoys having her own business which has been open for six years.
Her Sertoma sponsor was Rick Besmehn and she has been a member for
about nine years. She joined because of the social aspects of the
club and stayed because of the many friends she made and the great
work Sertoma does. She has been Treasurer and Rookie of the Year
as well as a very active member helping out with projects. |
|
| Of Note: |
|
| Jean Marshon had another bout with
surgery and is still recuperating. Please continue to keep her in
your prayers. |
|
|
Also Becky Olson, former member from the Bemidji area is
struggling with a hunting accident that put her husband in
intensive care and would appreciate your prayers and thoughts. |
|
| It was awards day at Sertoma today.
Joyce Seymour received her Centurion award and Tami Webb achieved
Senator level. Thanks to both of these hard-working Sertoma ladies
for dedicating so much of their time to our club and beyond. |

| Kristine Welle gets married this
Saturday and has invited everyone to the dance at 8 p.m. at the
Falls Ball Room. Those of us of the female persuasion are invited
to Shep’s on Friday night for the bachlorette party. |

| Rumor Corner |
- John Raboin threw everyone a curve today—he simply announced
himself in his real occupation. He must not have had time to
step into his phone booth and put on his disguise for the
meeting. Mark Korte decided to be an attorney today just to keep
him company.
- Pooch gladly paid his fine today to invite everyone to the
Holiday Open House at Midtown Floral.
- Our sergeants were a bit confused today. Bryan Jelinsky
almost got fined for teaching Safe Sex instead of Safe Food
Handling.
- Steve Mau signed up for Bell Ringing at Target. Is this a
protest or what?
- Thanks for the Habitat for Humanity Tickets—someone (Dave
didn’t catch this little item and I can’t remember) donated five
tickets for their holiday fund raiser at Breezy.
