Program
Pat SmithPat Smith joined the Sertomans for lunch today to give us some information on the new visitor center which will serve both the Paul Bunyan Arboretum and the Paul Bunyan Trail Head. Preliminary plans have been done with NorSon doing the designing and the rendition. Plans include a small theater which will seat 60, classrooms, interpretive displays, a warming room for winter sports, meeting rooms, a small gift shop and restrooms. Plans include hosting educational classes and seminars, facilitating tourism and hosting social activities and sporting events. Arboretum staff currently employees one full time person and one part time. The new building hopefully will provide enough income to support five full time employees.Mr. Smith was here to talk about funding. Approximate cost for the building will be about one million dollars. The Board is currently seeking donations especially larger ones from corporations and business. They are looking for $10,000 donations payable over three years. Those contributing will be listed as major sponsors on a large display board in the new building. Totals so far are between $300.000 and $350.000. Fas 829-7761 Dean Zenner. Both Jeff Diehl and Mike Boen are on the Board and can be contacted for further information or to arrange a donation.

Pat JohnsonPat Johnson also spoke today about Kinship Partners. Kinship is totally supported by donations and its two major fund raisers are the United Way and Taste of the Lakes. This wonderfully luscious sounding event is scheduled for November 23rd at Breezy Point. Only fifty more tickets remain for the event which sees local restaurants, liquor stores and distributors giving those who make the $50 donation a chance to sample many varieties of food and drink. This year's new area at the dinner is a Martini Bar. Call 829-4606 to purchase tickets or see our own Jim Park. Kinship provides mentoring for elementary and junior high students and is always looking for people to volunteer to work with the kids.

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:  http://communities.msn.com/BrainerdNoonSertoma/_whatsnew.msnw
