There was no scheduled program today so that the
hard-working Winter Wonderland Committee could get
organized and get out some last minute information
- There are many little things left to do at
the Arb. Contact Steve Mau or Cathe Picek for
more information. Bulb checking, Sign placement,
decorating for the Holiday Village, delivering
admission tickets and discount coupons, etc.
Prepaid tickets are available. Purchase $100
worth of tickets for $70 in a book of ten.
- If you have warm clothes (snowmobile suits,
etc.) you could loan to WW for a couple of
months, get them to Andi Holmes this week or
next week at the latest. She will see that they
are returned in good order. Karen Owen is also a
contact for this.
- log with Lakewood Country Journal--they are
featuring the WW and a blog on their site. If
your business has contributed and would like a
logo to put on your website-contact Lori Rubin.
- Ginger Bread Houses made by local
restaurants and bakeries will be part of the
Holiday Village Displays this year. It's not
quite too late to get one in, again contact Lori
Rubin
- November 20th 5-7 p.m. Preview Party for
sponsors and Sertomans. This is an adult party
and will be catered again by Pam Bye and the
Chapparal who did an excellent job last year.
Again the buses will run so that you can get an
opportunity to enjoy the fun.
- Distribute those Winter Wonderland Posters
at your church, your grocery store, and send
them home with relatives in nearby towns. Watch
your email for the second opportunity to forward
a Winter Wonderland message to your address
book.

Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
|
Today's
honored Sertoman was a little embarrassed to make his speech so
Bonnie Cumberland and others spoke for him. "Thanks", a colorful
character, joined Sertoma so that he could express the
overwhelming gratitude of the hundreds of children and adults
who have been touched by the Sertoma Spirit of Giving. Bonnie
was truly grateful that she could tell us "Thanks" appreciated
the fact that the Children's Design Contest for Winter
Wonderland is complete from designs, to books for displays, to
prizes for the winners and even media coverage. Mention was made
of the great job Jim Grant and Jim's Electric has done again on
the power to the giant pictures at Winter Wonderland. "Thanks"
also was amazed by the smooth and successful flag project this
year. All teams were captained and people stepped forward to
help out when needed. "Thanks" also could not believe that 560
7th graders were tested for vision and hearing this past week.
Bob Ehrich and his crew plan to do the last batch in one day!
Wow! The colorful little gobbler heard things about Winter
Wonderland, bell ringing for the Salvation Army and setting up
and taking down pipe and drape that seemed to be all taking
place at the same time. "Thanks" also heard some other things
that were appreciated like Mary Marana taking over the meeting
for Mark Korte last week, Sue VanWagner singing to get
volunteers for the first two weeks of Winter Wonderland, Cathe
Picek qualifying to apply for the National Leadership Award, the
community appreciating the difficulty of displaying the flags on
a day like Tuesday, and Dick Stoltman who always does at least
twice what he is asked to do. "Thanks" joined Sertoma when he
found out that Service to Mankind was not just a slogan. His
most embarrassing moment involved losing his gobble just when
Bonnie needed him the most. It turned out to be a battery
problem and thankfully he is as good as new. |

Rumor Corner
|
- The fun was flying today, but the two most significantly
funny stories involved two quiet ladies who belong to Sertoma.
Andi Holmes invited everyone present to come to the Arb and
screw with her. Bill Goers was working with Ami Anderson and
showed a little leg trying to get picked up and get to the next
flag spot and she rolled down her window and embarrassed HIM
with the remark, "You got some candy for Momma!"
- What DID you do with the money Sue? (You know the money your
Mom gave you for singing lessons.)
- What frig guy has a whimpy sissified ring on his cellphone?
Inquiring minds want to know.
- Mike Boen's baby fines (as opposed to Brian who collected
two bucks two bucks from everyone) Pooch for making fun of his
suit and Todd Dahl for being out of uniform (was it casual
Wednesday at the Sheriff's Dept?), and 50 cent bailout table
fines for no pins.
- Bill Goers fines from the field included poking fun at his
flag driver Tad Hoskins for being the shmuck with the truck.
- Bob Ehrich paid a two dollar hat and goofy scheduling fine.
- Carole Paulsen got the stylish fine today.
- Vern and John got dubbed the odd couple and fined for
bickering today.
- Kathi Nagorski got a fine and a pat on the back for her
political opinion article in a recent Brainerd Dispatch.
- REMEMBER NO REGULAR MEETING NEXT WEEK--SEE YA AT THE ARB!
