The
word "America" means many things. To me, freedom is the most
important. But with freedom comes many privileges and
responsibilities.
We, as the people of America, get to vote and decide who our
leaders are. Americans get punished for their crimes whether
they are the president or a common citizen. Everyone must follow
laws. Americans also have the freedom
of speech. Americans can speak up for what they believe in, and
have many ways to give their perspective on matters. We also get
to choose our jobs instead of them being chosen for us.
Religion is a very important part of freedom. We have freedom to
believe what we choose to believe, and follow what our hearts
tell us to do. We are not forced to follow a certain religion.
We can follow the culture of our ancestors by keeping the
religion of that culture. The fact that every American can
believe what they choose to makes a very fortunate country.
Education is another important part of freedom. Every American
has the chance to go to school and get a solid education no
matter what. The fact that everyone can get an education results
in a truly educated nation.
END NOTE: We have many freedoms in this country, and I thank God
for them all. |

When
I think about what America means to me, I think about how lucky
I am to be an American girl and have so many opportunities that
girls in other countries do not have.
I am so lucky to get to be in such a magnificent school and to
have books, teachers, desks and even the right as a girl just to
go to school! In many other countries men view women as objects
and their opinions don't matter. I am lucky that when I grow up,
I get to vote and share my thoughts and opinions without going
to jail, getting beaten and not being killed.
In some countries, if kids are "lucky" and they get to go to
school, they have to walk many miles to get there. Then if they
have text books, they have to share with hundreds of other
children. They write math problems in the dirt because they
don't have paper or pencils.
I don't have to worry about getting hurt because I know there
are people like doctors that can take of me. I also don't have
to worry about going hungry or not having enough food because we
live in a financially stable country and there is not a shortage
of food.
That is what America means to me. |

America!
This is a place where the red, white and blue fly and where
freedom lies in the morning sky. America means a lot to me and
it is all in one word, freedom!
The F in freedom stands for free to all and everything. The R
stands for responsibility in everything. The first E stands for
establish and the second E stands for everybody is somebody. The
D stands for devotion to others. The O stands for over the fears
in your life. The M stands for mirth as in joy. These words are
my saying of freedom.
Another reason is America is usually an understanding country.
We will help anyone in need of something. We will help as much
as possible. We have really nice people in America.
We owe our freedom to untold numbers of soldiers who have fought
in our wars ever since its founding in 1776. The rights of
independence and liberty and the respect of other countries are
freedom for us. And the freedom of speech that started with the
First Amendment to the Constitution was all given by the
soldiers and the ancestors in our country.
This is why America means a lot to me and why I live here. |
