Three of our members presented the program today. Cheryal Lee
Hills was the main speaker in her capacity with the Region V
Development Commission. She took us through the factors governing
the Fix Up Fund which is not a new program, but is of major
concern to the people in the area. Karen Owen and Steve Rose
discussed the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce and Crow
Wing county United Way Needs Assessment that we filled out in
2005. Affordable health care was number one on the list but
affordable housing was number four.
The fix up program involves home improvement loans for those
who meet the stringent qualifications which include income. One
must be a year around resident living on the property. This
program is especially beneficial to people who have invested most
of their money into purchasing a home and do not have the
necessary funds to do the improvement projects to make the home
more livable. The money is advanced in the form of a below market
fixed interest rate loan for up to 20 years.

George Moore is gearing up for the annual brat sale at Cub
Foods. It is scheduled for June 23 and 24th this year.
Sign up soon if you can help out. |
| Julia Sullivan is starting to send around
the sign up sheets for the Mariucci Fiesta. The majority
of the help is needed on Friday June 16th with some people
needed Thursday morning. If you can arrange your work schedule
so that you can be there it will help us continue this
wonderful tradition of providing the food for the Sertoma
Mariucci Fiesta which helps Confidence Learning Center raise
money for program. |

Mike Howard is still looking for someone to take charge of
the last flag team. He again had to stand before the
membership and request assistance for the Memorial Day
efforts. Mike and his assistant Beth Burnard have done a super
job of organizing this fund raiser which puts Sertoma in the
public eye and raises money to support our community efforts.
Someone needs to VOLUNTEER, you are in Sertoma to serve
mankind. The flag workers do need to be as safety conscious as
possible while out in the early morning or late evening hours. |
| Jim Grant took the time to acknowledge
everyone who attended the recent fund raiser for his employee.
It was extremely successful and Jim appreciated Mike
Boen’s help especially. |
| Tami Webb thanked her crew that helped at
the Community Day Event on Saturday. She encouraged
everyone not to miss the next event which will include an
outstanding military show on Veteran’s Day on November 11th. |
| May 27 - Parkinson's Research Ride Jinny encouraged us to become
involved in this motorcycle ride which will start on May
27th in Randall with a $10 entry fee. She has raffle tickets
available and all proceeds go directly to the Mayo Clinic
for Parkinson's research. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
|
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

Jennifer Dens wrote, “Thank you so much for your generosity in
offering scholarships to me and my fellow classmate. I know it
will help me immensely in my quest for higher education at the
University of Minnesota. I hope that you continue to offer this
opportunity to other students in the future so they can benefit as
I did! Thanks again.” |

Our Sertoma sympathies go out to Reed Campbell and the entire
Campbell family on the loss of his father Marvin. He was truly a
pillar of the community. |
|
|
|
We also need to keep Lori Abear in our prayers since she is
mourning the loss of her mother last week. Julia’s father is doing
better. |
|
|
|
If you are reading this before Friday morning rush out to
Vacationland Park and be part of the exclusive start of summer
celebration with a major St. Cloud radio station in attendance and
giving away prizes as well as sponsoring all the rides. |

- Pam issues a special apology to Brian Barrer for leaving off
the elusive “r” at the end of his name. Mea Culpa and I am
typing it five times so I don’t forget-Barrer, Barrer, Barrer,
Barrer, Barrer.
- Julia Sullivan presented our great server Deb with a
windshirt that says Sertoma to remember us by—she is in the
process of moving to Pennsylvania.
- Don’t win the Pot O Gold and expect to win again the next
week or maybe it is just Joyce Anderson that ends up with her
number in Dave’s pocket and then desk drawer at the office.
- Bonnie Cumberland was 60 on Tuesday. Happy Birthday to a
great lady.
- Jeff Olson was so busy Saturday that he didn’t realize he
was stopping traffic!!
- Frozen strawberries at Bob’s place but you can get fresh
luscious ones at Cub.
- Curling rocks because it combines ice sweeping and wiggling
according to Raboin but can he remember what he is doing?

| Photos Photos Everywhere New photos
go up almost every week on our new Sertoma Photo Gallery. This
community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the
opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as
well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to
thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive
feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the
current photographs or check out the new online directory go
