Program
Tammy and TeriNetworking for newcomers was the theme of today's program at Sertoma. Tammy Filippi, president, and Teri Pierce, president elect, from the Brainerd Lakes Area Newcomers's Club were our special guests. Tami moved here four years ago from Duluth and she called her involvement in the club a lifesaver. She had completely changed her lifestyle in the move and welcomed this opportunity to learn more about her new home. The group is family oriented with more than 90 groups involved. They organize activities that include Brainerd Sertomamorning coffees the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, monthly adult and family socials such as minature golf or Ladies Night out, Craft Night, Play Groups, Women's Gourmet Groups, Adult Dinner Groups, and many recreational and outdoor activities. If you would like more information about the club go to www.brainerd.com/newcomers. Tami entertained everyone with a few Walmart jokes and a Brainerd trivia contest. We learned about the populartion of Crow Wing County, when the historic water tower was built, and when the four lane road to Pequot Lakes is scheduled to be finished. That date was immediately a matter of considerable merriment when Tammy found out about our local MN-Dot guru Bob Nibbe who immediately said it was all rumor.

Announcements
Well, folks, it's Mariucci time again. Chuck Bartels and the people at Camp Confidence are counting on us to make this year's Sertoma Mariucci Fiesta on Friday, June 13th, bigger and better than ever. There are over 80 time slots to fill in the volunteer list that started making its rounds today. That means the great majority of our active membership needs to find time to spend a few hours in food prep, cooking or serving on Thursday or Friday in order to make this work. Please sign up next week. This activity not only benefits Camp Confidence but it gives us a lot of wonderful publicity that lets everyone know that we are sincere about Service to Mankind.

Greeter Schedule
Remember: Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Club Treasurer (Diane Rook Johnson) and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you can't. Call Patty Hartman.
June 4 Steve Mau, Pete Mogenson, George Moore
June 11 Steve Warren, Karla Nelson, Bob Nibbe
June 18 Jim Davis, Pete Odell, Bill O'Hara

Notes
Of Note Diane, the office manager at Camp Confidence, needs our prayers and concerns this week. Her husband had a major stroke and is in the hospital in St. Cloud recuperating. Diane is the person who takes care of the business side of Pipe and Drape for us.

Rumor Corner:
  • Brian Skogen's new nick name is "Easy on the Knees"
  • Lots of people were golfing today so it was a pretty quiet meeting.
  • Bob Nibbe got fined for being late and for being sassy to both the speaker and the sergeant.
  • If either Todd Alguire and Eric Edwards reads this far, they need to call Pam at 829-7761 before Tuesday and come to next week's meeting to collect their FAS money.
Find a Sawbuck Corner: Call 829-7761
The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:  http://communities.msn.com/BrainerdNoonSertoma/_whatsnew.msnw
