Program
In lieu of a formal program, President Korte had some committee reports. Our committee structure is under scrutiny now that the by-laws have been revised. The picture of the scholarship winners is especially appropriate since it reflects the work of the Sponsorship Committee which was part of the report. The School Board sent a very nice thank you for our participation in this program. Sertoma helps to make Senior Recognition evening a very special event.

John Raboin presented a summary of the Sponsorship Committee which currently has nine members. They are supervised by the second VP; meeting once a month to approve requests. The current Co-Chairs are Kristine Hoheisel and Steve Augustinack who are responsible for appointing members to serve. The committee has the authority of make decisions up to $500 with larger donations needing board approval Follow-up and research are sometimes involved. Criteria are established and detailed on the Sponsorship page of our web site and will perhaps be revised because of the influx of money from Winter Wonderland. Members on the committee need to be varied between old and new members because the committee encourages diverse opinions to make donations more equitable Debates are held over larger items which are budgeted by the Board but still approved by the committee. The committee will supervise about $35,000 this year. Four members of the committee serve on the Winter Wonderland Grant Committee which was set up as a separate entity.

To encourage everyone to participate in the Mariucci Fiesta two of the VP's reported on their responsibilities. Mary Marana gave kudos to Scott Fisher and Reed Campbell for having the wine women and song area under control. (Mary just added the "women" part to get the Dog Pound's attention). Bill Goers talked about the cookers, cleaners, and runners for the busy Friday, June 19th. Sign Up sheets will be set up in four hour shifts. Camp is looking for five more teams for the Golf Classic. The Fishing Boats number 50 already and Jeff Olson was enthusiastic about this year's Classic not reflecting the down turn in the economy. SILENT AND LIFE AUCTION ITEMS ARE NEEDED-CONTACT JOYCE ANDERSON OR VERONICA JENSEN. Be sure to come to the Mariucci Fiesta even if you do not have time to work Friday morning or afternoon and help Confidence Learning Center celebrate their fortieth birthday.
Thanks Bonnie Cumberland for taking attendance and Pam Sachs for taking notes.
Announcements
Two Flag Set Ups this month thanks to all the crews. Mark remarked that we do not realize how many compliments the club gets on this project.
Safe Ears is needing a new venue with Anna not here. BIR was a very easy inaugural event last year. Jeff would like to see the rookies take this on as a responsibility. The gossamer ceiling and Safe Ears would definitely give the new people a chance to get involved and start participating in fun events.
Can you host a ball player? They are still looking for more families. First pitch at the Lunker's game tomorrow night--Harmon Killebrew! Dick Stoltman, John Raboin, Heidi Funk, and Gary Walters all won tickets from Cub Foods for the Lunkers Opening Day.
Gossamer Takedown Monday June 1st Noon at the armory.
See Steve Rose to volunteer June 4th for the Grad Blast.
Grant application for Winter Wonderland Sponsorship are available online at the Sertoma site. They are also linked to the Winter Wonderland Site. Encourage applicants to go and get a copy to fill out. These will be officially completed by late April or early May.

Remember: As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you can't be there.

Rumor Corner
  • Mary Marana was the rookie shooter at the Clay Shoot. Everyone had a very good time and Jeff and Carol are planning to continue to organize these fun events. Jeff and the tooth fairy with the gun made Mary queen of the shoot especially for thinking gun smoke is an aphrodisiac(SEE FUN FOTO).Mary Marana is also awaiting the birth of her only grandson. "Milo Reed" is four days overdue so keep them in your prayers!
  • Pam Sachs already has her first Cub Food gas coupon. Got yours yet? She is still enthusiastic about the program even though Jeff Marchand fined her for her typo in the business notes. He cheated by borrowing George Moore's printed newsletter to find the mistake. We can have speed or accuracy in our newsletter folks and Pam and Ann pride themselves on getting that newsletter out as early as possible to inform people of the things they miss at meetings. Pam apologizes the Cub Foods and to the scholarship winners who also got buggered up when the new little laptop ran out of juice!! Still a rookie with the bluetooth connection that uses up lots of power if you forget to turn it off!!
  • Nepotism works--bring in all those relatives to help boost our membership. Welcome Shannon Brenny.
  • Welcome back Reed Campbell and Kevin Donnay. Our illustrious president put Kevin to work collecting quarters when he forgot he had to hand out the blue ticket money even though he drew tickets for free baseball passes.
  • The insurance guys had a meeting and tried to test the fire alarms at Bonanza. Everyone who arrived after them needed a miner's light to find their way through the smoke!! Burnt offerings anyone?
  • Thanks Brian Lehman for filling in at the greeter table.
  • What exactly did Jeff Fitch have under his coat that he flashed Brian Jelinkski with---inquiring minds want to know.
  • Sertoma is now the "rodeo"--hmm bull riding anyone? Is the mechanical bull on the way? Our lameduck president will be missed for his creativity at least!! He was accused of losing control of the masses today!
  • Karen Owen had the courage to proclaim Riverwood Bank as the only BANK in Baxter. She inspired everyone else to either proclaim their individuality or not. Paul Gropper claimed to be Lakes Printing a subsidiary of the Inwards Grocery after Bryan claimed the only grocery store in Brainerd title.
  • Bill Goers--TitlesRUS intro was pretty cute. Charlie countered with TitlesRYUSGuys
  • Paul Heinlein thinks that the gossamer ceiling crew needs to take a few lessons from the old guard.
  • Substitute Sergeant Bryan Jelinski lead a sergeant try out today since we didn't have an organized program. Carole Paulson fined the Sheriff for keeping things too orderly in Crow Wing County. She fined Allen Hall for being her old accountant buddy. Chuck Brenny fined Bryan Jelinski and Mary Marana for just being themselves. Nate Grotzky wore his pink shirt and tie to tone down his masculinity. He fined Ami for not using her flag list. Ami fined Raboin for having his face on the phonebook. A premature beer drinking fine went to Scott Fisher. Laura Beilke also hinted at hanky panky because she discovered that Scott's wife spent all morning shaving her legs so she also fined Scott. Diane Rook Johnson fined the president for his lack of organization and for eliminating the Sertoman of the Day which just happened to be her. Charlie Bartels fined Reed for having less hair than him and Bolt for being a smartass because he suggested fining everyone else in the club for having more. Karen Munsterteiger got a $2 nosy fine from her neighbor Jeff Fitch. Karen M fined Jeff Fitch for wearing disgusting clothes while lounging around at home--that is why she keeps track of Jeff so she can run the other way. Bryan got fined again and managed to get a few zingers into the mix. Jackie McCall wanted to fine Korte for thinking she was a chiropractor. Katie Imgrund did very well for a new member--shefined Karen Owen for her bank remark and Jamie Arvig for always sitting in the same place. Bryan Barre got fined $2 for just being here. Karen Munsterteiger and Diane Rook Johnson had to stand because Floor to Ceiling called and Tom Steiger wanted their fabric samples back--it was the shirts. Our retiring chairman of the board had to volunteer that one--SEE FUN FOTO. Lots of spontaneous fines followed including Charlie Bartels getting Rosenberger for stealing is fishing spot. Laura Beilke had Bob Morey fined for loud partying over the weekend. . Happy fines for new grand kids went to Diane Rook Johnson and Jim Mayne. Mark's happy fine went for Pam Bye hiring both his kids. The Dog Pound paid a happy fine since Katie Imgrund scares Straka away and makes them happy. All together, the tryouts went well and made for much merriment!
