Board Chairman Dave Clausen gave his report on the highlights from
the Board Meeting last Tuesday. Six members were dropped and one
added. St Francis School is presently included in the $4,000 grant
for phonic ears. The budget for Pipe and Drape is going to include
some more drape and stools. The good news about Pipe and Drape is
that Cragun's is back on board and will be using our equipment for
some of their activities. The Rookies were complimented on the
great work they are doing with the gossamer ceiling. Every time a
group takes on a project like the ceiling or the flags, it makes
it so much easier to get sign-ups for other activities. The Club
has upgraded to Quickbooks which should make Darren's job as
treasurer easier. The money outlay for St. Cloud has been
approved. The Foundation has given out $98,000 this year, however
they did not approve our request for funding to help with Pipe and
Drape expenses. For more details, watch your email for the
complete minutes. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
 Curt
Hawkinson was today's honored Sertoman. Although he looks a little
gruff and his picture, he is really very friendly. Hawk, as he is
affectionately known, goes to the same church as Steve Augustinack.
In fact, my favorite mental picture of Hawk is him in his tights
at the Christmas Pageant. Hawk was born in a little farm town and
moved to the big city after that. He and Verna joined us in
Brainerd in 1996. His business, Dream Builders Construction,
specializes in great custom homes and remodeling. Verna, his wife,
is an integral part of the company that includes 8 other
employees. She is the one who encouraged him to be the spontaneous
Sertoman of the Day today. When he first joined, he was much more
active. Hawk promised us that he was going to get more involved
and we are going to hold him to that. His Sertoma involvement
included a stint as sergeant and lots of Pipe and Drape. His
family consists of three daughters, an "OK" son in law and three
grandkids. Hawk loves the Vikings and proudly displays his tattoo
of their logo. This got him into serious trouble on a cruise. When
a little girl admired it, he accidentally grabbed the wrong lady's
derriere in the elevator. He tried really hard to talk his way out
of it and must have succeeded because he didn't have any scars to
show us. Hawk is an outdoors man and loves hunting, fishing,
snowmobiling and all those boys with toys experiences. |

The Minnesota Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf thanked us for
our donation of $300 for Camp ASL. Pictures will be forthcoming.
Jeff Tidholm is from Aitkin and brought his compliments from the
Chamber on the Pipe and Drape. He feels that with a few minor
adjustments, this could be a yearly event for us. |

Rumor Corner
|
-
Welcome back Rhonda Marek and Sarah Nelson (she was in the paper
last week).
-
Things are bad for Hawk, Bill figures he got his Dream Builders
nickname from his experience in the Elevator. Dave Clausen also
took the opportunity to tell Hawk he couldn't change his name to
Gropper--it's already taken.
-
Karla had to pay a fine for not bringing Elvis into the building
with her.
-
As a Sertoman you are in trouble if you haven't been fined for a
long time (Aaron, Joe and Joyce) or even in trouble if Bill sees
you too often during the week.
-
Our guest is a former Sertoman. Since he hasn't been to a
meeting for 14 years (728 to be exact) he had to pay a $2 fine
even though he is not yet decided to rejoin.
-
Julia did break down and pay her $2 fine from last week--she was
very proud of how quiet and well behaved we were this week. Her
two best witty remarks as President were, "I think the room is
having hot flashes, is it going through menopause?" and "Go see
the comedy act, you will laugh so hard you will pee your pants."
-
Paul Heinlein got in trouble for getting too many grateful
kisses for his role as rookie gossamer ceiling guru.
