"I thank my lucky stars to be living here today. "Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away." These are the words in Lee Greenwood's song, "God Bless America". These are words I believe in. Our flag is the Statue of Libertys blanket. We must protect our freedom when our civil rights are threatened and when other countries threaten us. Freedom is something everyone should have and enjoy.

Freedom is worth fighting for when our civil rights are threatened. One of our civil rights is the right to vote for who or what I believe in. As Americans we can also choose what religion we want to be, and what career we want to pursue. We must always fight to keep our civil rights. Another example of when to fight for freedom is when countries threaten us. On 9-11 terrorists flew into the twin towers. They tried to make our country fall with the towers, but instead our country got stronger. This showed our unity, and our strong desire to keep American a free and safe country. We must not let terrorists or other countries take away our freedom.

I hope you realize that when our civil rights are threatened, and when our country is threatened it's time to fight for freedom. We must make sure that our flag always stands for freedom.

When is freedom worth fighting for, you ask? I think it always is. For many years, brave men and women have risked their lives for our country and our rights, for example: Holocaust, The Great Depression, mutiny, poverty and war. Thousands of innocents were killed during these fateful times.

Right now my dad is fighting in Kosovo. This is really important to me because it's the second time he's been deployed. He was in Desert Storm when my mom was pregnant with me, too. I feel that if you have something to say, don't be afraid to let people know!

We're not forced to believe in Freedom of Speech or Religion. We are free to choose.

Some people don't take the time to appreciate our soldiers. War protesters hold up signs by highways saying "Honk if you love America," but they won't do anything about the current situation!

Take into consideration all the USA has done for where we are now before you underestimate Freedom.

That is why I think Freedom is worth fighting for

Freedom is worth fighting for when people lose their civil rights. People have the right to vote, wear clothes that they want and go to the church they choose. We have these rights because our ancestors fought for them a long time ago.

In Minnesota, you have the right to vote, if you are 18 or older. In the past, only men could vote, so women fought for that that right.

In Afghanistan, ladies of all ages have to wear clothes that cover their entire bodies, even their heads. They can be beaten or killed if they don't follow the law. Hopefully, when the United States is done fighting in Iraq, women should get to wear what they want.

In Saudi Arabia, if you are standing on the street reading a Bible you are put in a federal prison for life. If you are trying to get a person to become a Christian, you are given capital punishment. This means they kill you for breaking the law. In the United States, we can pick our own church and not worry about getting killed.

That is why our freedom is worth fighting for.
