Brainerd
Noon Sertomans were given three great reasons why they
should attend the Regional Convention today by the new
roving Ambassadors of Great in 08. Three of our new active
members have taken on the role of the Good, the Bad and the
Ugly and will be presenting motivational segments the next
meetings to inspire everyone to attend the convention. They
are in order: Shannon Fanth, Anna Gorecky and Jeff Fitch.
There is now a big sign up sheet on the back wall and they
are expecting to "SEE RED". That is, a long red line that
indicates all of our membership is attending the convention.
They were assisted this week by Lori Rubin who is the
chairman of the entertainment segment of Great in 08. Lori
was praised highly by Co-Chair Joe Schulte who remarked,
"Lori worked tirelessly to sign up our speaker at a price
that our club could afford. Kathy Buckley is as the first
nationally known hearing impaired comedienne. She is also
known as an inspirational speaker and adds award winning
performances as an actress to her list of talents. She began
her early childhood with the label of "slow" until someone
realized she was hearing impaired. She has battled her way
back from two serious health issues and continues to say,
"Anything can be achieved when the heart and the mind work
together." She is the National Spokesperson for No Limits, a
non profit that deals solely with the deaf and hard of
hearing. Kathy is the perfect speaker for our convention and
in the words of Lori Rubin, "You will never forget her
presentation!" If you want more information or a sample of
her humor, just go to her website. The second reason to
attend the convention also takes place on that Friday night,
May 2nd. Along with Kathy, the Swinging Sertomans will
entertain and be celebrated with a 20 year anniversary
party. The group was formed for the first convention, and
intends to make this its last season as a fund raising group
for the Noon Sertoma Club. Everyone should want to take this
last opportunity to enjoy their special brand of
entertainment and to thank them for all their hard work. The
last reason everyone should be willing to attend this and
other events is the fact that it is already paid. A decision
was made to assess the fees necessary to cover the
convention expense over a two year period to make it easy to
motivate our members to attend. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

The Linders family, another greatful Winter Wonderland Sears Gift
Card winner, sent us a thank you and see you next year card.
Randy Klinger from the YMCA issued a God Bless Sertoma thank you
letter for our contribution of $100 to Youth in Government.
Sadly, Sertoma was the recipient of a $500 donation today
from the Northern Lights Club which is disbanding. Mike Boen
thanked everyone for their support of that club. |

-
Our last class of rookies continues to be involved in a big way
in Sertoma. They are not trying to offend anyone, but they are
passionate about getting people to support Great in 08. Lena is
making special appearances to tell jokes--today's was a groaner
but they are going to get much funnier. Thanks Pam Sachs for
sharing.
-
We had an automatic meeting start today. The Dog Pound decided
that they would start the meeting by standing up, Pam did Good
Day Julia before she could say a word and Bryan Jelinski started
the pledge. Impromptu prayer was given excellently by Andy
Holmes. It's not that we can do it without you Julia, we just
wanted to make it easy!!
-
Dairy Queen Karen Munsterteiger must have moved to a farm. She
was discussing "milking" today with some authority.
-
Dale Bolt put away badges today and he insisted that from now on
people with similar numbers have to sit together. Actually, that
is not a bad idea--it would mix up the group if you had to find
someone within 20 numbers to sit by every time.
-
Anna Gorecky burned her tongue on John Raboin's coffee at the
recent committee meeting for Great in 08. She is looking for
support for her tongue suit against Mr. Raboin.
-
The Curling team has its last hurrah this weekend-come out and
show your support. Call the embattled lawyer above for times and
locations of their matches.
-
Sue VanWagner was trying to sell her retired husband on the idea
of joining the club-she claimed he was good with lights, loved
the cold and the outdoors and didn’t mind heavy lifting so would
someone please snatch him up!
