The Winter Wonderland was the topic of discussion today with Steve
Mau and Steve Augustinack presenting. They started by
acknowledging all of the people who have been involved in getting
the project to this particular point.
They were especially
appreciative of the work of Bonnie Cumberland and Jim Grant in
arranging the excellent plan with the Brainerd Public Utilities
committee for agreeing to place the infrastructure at the
Arboretum which has given the program a 20 year commitment.
Brainerd Public Utilities is paying for the primary infrastructure
and financing the $39,000 necessary for the secondary connections
over a three year period. Mike Boen and the radio stations have
agreed to provide all the publicity necessary to make this work.
The only obstacle to the success of the project is getting the
required $70,000 commitment from the businesses and organizations
that is was mandated by the Board of Directors. Gus, Steve, and
Lori Rubin are asking for everyone’s help in organizing a contact
plan for selling the idea . Watch your email for a list of
potential sales and contact any of the committee members with your
suggestions.
The important thing is personal contact from a Sertoma member familiar with the organization. Gus and/or Steve
are willing to accompany anyone to make these presentations. Our
goal in the next two weeks is to organize the list, so please
respond to the email quickly. |

| Announcements |
| Just a little photo montage from an old
Regional Convention. Do you recognize these younger
versions of three of our loyal members who would encourage
everyone to attend this convention, the next one in St. Cloud,
and of course our very own in 2008. |
|
|
| Bonnie Cumberland was please to announce
that 17 students have applied for our three five hundred
dollar scholarships. The winners will be announced on May
15th at the BHS Awards Program and the winners will be invited
to join us for lunch in late May or early June. |
| The Flag Committee is looking for
salesmen and for two route captains for the flag season.
Contact either Beth Burnard or Mike Howard if you are willing
to command a team or sell some flags. |
| April 27-29 - Great Plains
Regional Convention in Dubuque, Iowa. Learn more about what is
happening in Sertoma by attending meetings and make some great
new friends with all the fun activities. Sign up at the
meeting or see Kari Robinson. On the home front the Board
voted to include the dues raise to finance the 2008 Convention
in Brainerd. The next nine quarters will see $10 added on to
everyone's dues. This surcharge is non-refundable and will be
used to cover expenses as they arise. Brainerd Noon Sertoma
members are all registered to attend the convention and
prepaid through this charge. |
| Fun things to do in Dubuque: bus trip to
Field of Dreams, trip to arboretum and botanical gardens,
scenic cruise on the Mississippi, shopping at Cable Car Square
at Galena and great breakout sessions at the convention. These
include training in wine-tasting fundraising, legal aspects of Sertoma and working on membership personal enhancement. |
| April 29-30 - Contact Dave Clausen if you are interested in
working at a benefit basketball tournament at Forest View. They need 3 shifts of 3-4 people on
Saturday and 2 shifts on Sunday. Proceeds will go towards the
$500 scholarships awarded in the name of Jeff Oliphant. |

Schedule |
|
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

Prayers go out to Laura Beilke and her daughter. The daughter had
a fall in Mexico, a concussion and had to stay in the hospital
there until Tuesday. They are home now. |

- John Raboin was in disguise as Steve Lastovich today.
- Welcome back John Nelson, Todd Alguire and Hawk!
- Dave had a little problem with order today—everyone had
their mouths full when he finally got around to introductions.
- Got a big event coming up—want to let everyone know? Go to
the
interactive calendar page on the website and post it for all
to see.
- Kathy Williams may have changed her name to Bonnie today—at
least Paul Gropper seemed to think so.
- If Pam shows up on your doorstep with her towel—let her in.
She is in the middle of a bathroom remodel that involves
installing a new fancy bathtub and things seem to be in the slow
mode since she only has one bathroom.

go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This
community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the
opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as
well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to
thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive
feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the
