Board Meeting Summary
Our sponsorship budget is up $3,000 but the General Fund is down $10,000 because of our membership decline. The emphasis has been on keeping our members rather than promoting new ones in the last few years. We dropped two members with our current status at 178.

Meals expenses are again an issue with plans to look into changing our place of meeting again.

Sponsorship is supporting a public awareness play put on by the Signer’s Club at CLC.

At the regional convention we will be handing out Culligan bottled water with special labels promoting the Regional Convention in Brainerd. In 2007 at St. Cloud, we will have a hospitality suite and also be working with Maddens to promote early registrations.
Thanks Joyce Seymour for taking notes!
Announcements
The Winter Wonderland committee (the lights display) is beginning to gear up for sales. They would like anyone who knows of an organization that could become a major sponsor (the $2,000-$5,000 range) to email Gus with the details including the name of a contact person and whether or not you would be willing to attend the meeting along with a knowledgeable representative from the committee. They are trying to make sure that only one person contacts each organization, so this is a very important request.
Thanks from Julia Sullivan for a very efficient set up at Rohfings. The big MBNA set up is Wed, March 29th. Joe Schulte needs a few good men and women on Monday at 11 to take down the Gossamer Ceiling at the Armory.
Fun things to do in Dubuque: bus trip to Field of Dreams, trip to arboretum and botanical gardens, scenic cruise on the Mississippi, shopping at Cable Car Square at Galena and great breakout sessions at the convention. These include training in wine-tasting fundraising, legal aspects of Sertoma and working on membership personal enhancement.
April 27-29 - Great Plains Regional Convention in Dubuque, Iowa. Learn more about what is happening in Sertoma by attending meetings and make some great new friends with all the fun activities. Sign up at the meeting or see Kari Robinson. On the home front the Board voted to include the dues raise to finance the 2008 Convention in Brainerd. The next nine quarters will see $10 added on to everyone's dues. This surcharge is non-refundable and will be used to cover expenses as they arise. Brainerd Noon Sertoma members are all registered to attend the convention and prepaid through this charge.
April 29-30 - Contact Dave Clausen if you are interested in working at a benefit basketball tournament at Forest View. They need 3 shifts of 3-4 people on Saturday and 2 shifts on Sunday. Proceeds will go towards the $500 scholarships awarded in the name of Jeff Oliphant.

Greeter Schedule
Remember: As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you can't be there.

April 5 Tom Swanson, Craig Swenson, Stephanie Thurlow
April 12 Lori Ukkelberg, Diane Ulmen, Gary Walters
Sertoman of the Day
Sertoman of the Day - Jean MershonJean Mershon gave us a very polished performance as Stand In Sertoman of the Day. Steve Lackner, whom she sponsored in the club was unable to fulfill his commitment so we learned about our Club Secretary today.

Jean has been in Sertoma for four years and Robin Loftis was her sponsor. She jokingly told us that she joined Sertoma so that her obituary would look good in the paper, but then went on to remark, “You get involved and then find the purpose.” She encouraged the rookies to all become involved with their party. It is a great way to jump right in and also to meet many of the people you will be working with in Sertoma.

Jean works with the customized training program at CLC and also behavior management with St. Scholastica and she loves her job. She has one son. Her hobbies include gardening and working in her house ,but she shines as a Boundary Waters Gourmet Cook and Guide.

Her most embarrassing moment was either the fact that she had never been Sertoman of the Day or else it was giving a presentation with her long skirt tucked into her underwear!!

Of Note
We received a thank you from Junior Achievement for our $600 contribution to their program which works with 3200 students helping them to understand the free enterprise system.
Prayers go out to Laura Beilke and her daughter. The daughter had a fall in Mexico, a concussion and had to stay in the hospital there until Tuesday. They are home now.
Humor Corner
  • John Raboin had his guest convinced she had to sing for her dinner.
  • Steve Mau gave us a taste of what was called the Mau regime today because Dave has been sick all week. Get better soon Prez
  • Our two newest political folks are Terry Curtis and Kevin Goedker.
  • The seargeants decided to fine each other for advertising and bribery among other sins.
  • Mike Boen got a new nickname today, Monkey Mike.
  • If you see either Bonnie Cumberland or Karla Nelson at Shep’s, they are buying. Bonnie won the biiiiiiggggggg Pot O Gold and Karla got her first official Social Security check.
