Carole
Paulson introduced today’s speakers since they were from that
“other” club of hers. Carole has been a member of the Paul Bunyan
Toastmaster’s Club for about 16 years and she recommends it highly
to everyone. Their president, Chris Hastings and his VP Michelle
Oie, gave us a very polished and amusing demonstration of their
craft. Our group got a “boisterous” compliment from Chris after
Chuck Brenny immediately recognized that Chris was giving us
clumsy faux paux from our President, George Bush. “Paul Bunyan
Toastmasters is a group that allows you to practice speaking
skills, improves communication and leadership skills, and teaches
you to be a better listener,” according to Michelle. They supply a
positive learning environment that promotes these skills when they
meet every Friday from 12:00-1:00 at the Sawmill Inn and every
first and third Wednesday at 7:00-8:00 a.m. at the same location.
Their membership fees are very modest and joining will cost only
$34 for six months. Michelle also reminded us that this group
helps you to deliver great presentations, easily lead teams and
conduct meetings, give and receive constructive evaluations and
network with others. |

Schedule |
|
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
 Veronica
Jensen continued the Bremer Bank girls sharing their stories as
Sertoman of the Day. Veronica is married to Gary and they have two
girls. She also likes to make scrapbooks (Joyce does also), spend
time with family and friends, and shop. Veronica volunteers at her
daughter’s school. She works at Bremer Bank at the Baxter
location, which is one of four locally owned branches. She is a
personal banker who works with lending, home equity, personal
loans, and new accounts. She has been working there for 8 years.
Her sponsor was Joyce Anderson and she joined the club because she
heard that John Raboin was a member (definitely said with
considerable sarcasm). Actually Veronica has dived right in and
participated in many events including ditch picks and pipe and
drape. She is a member of the sponsorship committee and was an
active rookie. She listed her most embarrassing moment as the put
a sock on it fine she paid a few meetings ago. Pam would ask her,
“What about the porn star?” and Joyce had something even more
embarrassing that she wouldn’t share. Thanks for bring some fun
and enthusiasm to Sertoma Vern! |
