Deb
Cranny was our presenter today. She stood before us to explain her
new business called Home Instead Senior Care. Their motto is to
provide a trusted source of companionship and home care for the
elderly enabling them to live independently. Everything from
companionship and conversation to airport assistance is part of
their program which includes matching patients with highly
qualified and carefully selected CAREgivers. Each one participates
in a very effective ongoing training program.
Deb told us that right now 12.2 percent of the population is
over 65. By 2030 that will increase to 1 in 5. Many people are
attempting to care for an elderly relative themselves and Home
Instead offers minimal services to some and maximum services to
others depending on needs. They attempt to be affordable and
flexible. Deb also gave us some tips on checking on our elderly
relatives including checking the refrigerator, looking for spills,
and checking medications. They service was founded in 1994 and has
grown to a network of more than 500 independently owned an
operated offices in the U.S. Canada, Japan and Western Europe. Deb
has always worked in senior care including a previous stint in
Brainerd where she and her husband Mike worked for Bethany. |

Schedule |
| Remember:
Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

| Sertoman of
the Day |
Ron
Morris was today’s honored Sertoman. Ron grew up in Brainerd, in
fact he remembers when Northeast Liquor was Johnson Dairy. He and
his wife met in St. Cloud and they are both involved in graphic
arts. In his senior year he started the printing program at the
high school. He then went to St. Cloud Tech and St. Cloud State
and has worked for several printers in the area. His first year
anniversary as the owner of his own business, Insty Prints is
coming up. His business is a full service printer offering
creative design, graphic arts, direct mailing. Brochures, seminar
manuals blueprint copies, postcards and stationary. They are also
the only FED EX shipping center in the Brainerd area. Ron has
always been involved in the community. His activities include
being a Chamber Ambassador, arboretum, KAXE Public Radio, Lakeland
TV, Lakes Area Concern Association and one of his favorites The
Crossing Arts Alliance. His hobbies include preparing gourmet
meals which has become a service donated to charitable causes in
the area. He enjoys motorcycles and sailing as well. His most
embarrassing moment involved running out of gas “in” a car wash.
He closed his speech with a quote from Helen Keller, “Security is
a superstition . . .life is a daring adventure or nothing at all.” |
