Forum Series
Jim Park brought the Rosenmeier Center’s Forum Series for Spring 2002 to our attention by passing out flyers and announcing “Aftershock” which will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd at the Central Lakes College Cafeteria from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. The Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Government, in partnership with the Minnesota International Center and the Brainerd Lakes Area presents this intense discussion of the impact of 9:11 on U.S. Foreign Policy. Jim Park is president and encourages all interested members of the public to attend this free symposium. The guest speaker is Thomas Hanson who has had extensive experience in the US Department of State. He has worked in Congress on the staff of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and also as an aide to Senator Richard Lugar on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He was working with the US Embassy in Sweden when the Soviet Union collapses . His most current job focuses on programs assisting the countries of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union to create closer links to NATO. fas 829-7761 Rita Johnson. Panel members will speak in response to Mr. Hanson and they include Hanspeter Borgwarth, Rick Nolan and Bob McLean. Hors d’oeuvres will be served with special music by Steve Anderson.

Sertoman of the Day
Brad CarlsonBrad Carlson, new member of Sertoma, bravely faced the crowd today to talk about himself. Brad was an admirable choice to fill in when no speaker had been scheduled. We learned a great deal about Brad personally including his enthusiasm for his new job--CEO of Minnesota Tees. He waxed eloquent about his dedication to his job which is very different from his first career in software sale in the Twin Cities area. Brad married rather late in life and acquired 4 step children and a wife Carol who works at Grand View. He was brought into Sertoma by Mike Boen and it is one of his goals to be more active in the community. Part of that includes inviting kids and teachers in to screen print t-shirts, having a booth at the Commerce and Industry Show that will be donating profits to Camp Confidence, and trying to organize a stroller run and a flag raising on Memorial Day in the Nisswa area as a fund raiser for the library. fas 829-7761 Brian Skogen. His hobbies include anything in the outdoors including swimming, biking, and canoeing. He is Church Secretary at the Lutheran Church of the Cross. Thanks Brad for a very good impromptu presentation as Sertoman of the Day.

Notes
Find a Sawbuck Corner:
The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life.
