Sandra Ehrich introduced today's speaker who is the interim director of the Paul Bunyan Nature Learning Center,
"you know that building on the Wise Road that everyone wonders about" to quote Travis Meyers. The Nature Learning
Center consists of 145 acres of diverse habitat that was organized in 1987 and had its grand opening in 1993 after funding from local sources and the Mille Lacs Band of Objiwe saw the construction of a facility. It is open from 10AM until 5PM each day and the public is welcome to enjoy the facilities at no charge. The center is currently charging school groups and those who take advantage of scheduled classes a fee to cover costs. Programs include naturalist led programs, workshops, environmental education, nature walks, slide shows, seminars, school field trips, and demonstrations. Their mission
" . . . is to provide recreational and educational opportunities that enhance visitor's awareness, appreciation and understanding of nature and to promote conservation and good stewardship of the center's natural communities." The center features interpretive displays, an exhibit area, an assembly room, a reference library, a gift shop and a picnic area. FAS 829-776 Bonnie Franke

End of the membership drive. Now is the time to scour the bushes for new members because they not only get to join a great club, but they get invited to a steak fry at Mike Boen's. (P.S. You can also bring them to the
"surprise" spring social which will be held that evening also.) The Social Committee has definitely decided to hold its Spring Mystery Fling in spite of
the conflict with Governor Ventura's visit. Those not visiting with the governor can reserve that date
for a night of Sertoma fun as organized by our great social committee.

Come one come all to the Waterfall on Highway 371 to see if you can SURVIVE the
Spring Social. Sign up sheets are going around next week where those who wish to participate on a
"Survival Team" will sign their contracts and those of us who wish to watch the fun will just indicate we are attending. Some pretty exciting events are being planned.
Social Hour at 6:00 p.m.--food, fun, beer, laughs, great times and a D.J.too! Anyone who did not register for the Survivor Social this week should do so by next week at the latest so that food can be
ordered. Call Todd Dunlap at 829-3156 to get your name on the list. Remember you can bring more than one guest especially if you are working on potential members. Cost is $7.00 per person.

Because many members are going to the Regional Convention in Sioux Falls (see Tami Webb to sign up and pay your measly $35-the club pays the rest), there will be

Shave Big Mike. Everyone received their razors in the latest move to collect fines or promote new members. Anyone who doesn't want to pay the sergeants for NOT having their razor with them for the next month needs to bring in one prospective member. Let's give Mike back ALL of his razors. |

Tom says thanks--both for the 400 pairs of shoes bought and paid for (could still use 200 more) and all the words of encouragement during his
wife's surgery. HOOFING IT TO HAITI IS A
SUCCESS! |

| Some issues have been raised concerning the Sertoma Sunshine efforts. As a
group we do want to acknowledge the good things that happen to the people in
our club and provide moral support when things are not so sunny. Mary
Marana, as one of the chaplains, has agree to be the coordinator of our
efforts. Her numbers are as follows; 828-4539 or
829-2997. Please contact her if you feel a card or flowers are appropriate. |
