It is always fun to have young people at our noon meeting. Today's
two, Vice President Matt Cummings and Youth Director Katie Vande
Brake, were very poised and personable speakers who presented the Youth As Resources (YAR) Program to the group.
"If one person our age does something bad, people tend to think all of us are that way. One of the major purposes of YAR is to show young people doing good things," commented Matt at the opening of their presentation. Those good things are done with the help of grants from a community based program. The administration of these grants is left up to the youth and their board which is mostly comprised of young people. YAR is looking for project proposals and welcomes any and all that are made by youths (SERTEENS????). Two things they have accomplished so far include participating in Earth Day and Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army. They have issued grants for the Starlite Student Theater Co. and Timber Bay Skate Parks. April 2nd is the deadline for proposals, so if you know of any dedicated young people who want to do something to make the world a little better, sit them down and have them write a proposal and submit it to YAR.

The "New" old date for the meeting of the Camp Confidence Sertoma Club. It has been changed back to this Saturday at 10:00 p.m. for all members and the board.

End of the membership drive. Now is the time to scour the bushes for new members because they not only get to join a great club, but they get invited to a steak fry at Mike Boen's. (P.S. You can also bring them to the
"surprise" spring social which will be held that evening also.) The Social Committee has definitely decided to hold its Spring Mystery Fling in spite of
the conflict with Governor Ventura's visit. Those not visiting with the governor can reserve that date
for a night of Sertoma fun as organized by our great social committee.

Come one come all to the Waterfall on Highway 371 to see if you can SURVIVE the
Spring Social. Sign up sheets are going around next week where those who wish to participate on a
"Survival Team" will sign their contracts and those of us who wish to watch the fun will just indicate we are attending. Some pretty exciting events are being planned. Thanks for the cute presentation social committee members Rory Coit (what is the whip for?) and Todd Dunlap. We thought you were cute, Todd
,even if your children didn't. Social Hour at 6:00 p.m.--food, fun, beer, laughs, great times and a

Sertoman of the Day
|
|
|
|
John Nelson, our Sertoman of the Day gets
"double exposure" by bringing in some gorgeous birthday photos his his new daughter, Emily, that he is extremely proud of. John recently started his own business and is the owner of All In One Overhead Door. He took this opportunity to thank the many Sertomans who have helped to make his business possible. His hobbies include Frisbee golf, rugby, snowmobiling and spending time with his Kinship Partner. He joined Sertoma 5 years ago and is a member of the Swinging Sertomans. He has signed up two new members, has his Centurion Award and has ambitions to be president of Sertoma. His most embarrassing moment took a long time to tell but it was one of those you will never believe this coincidence stories. We all wondered what his wife Nancy thought of the one
"that got away" literally (she landed on the dance floor). FAS 829-7762 Ken Anderson

Hoofing it for Haiti - Not only is Tom Rosenberger going to Haiti to help build a a new high school in an area that doesn't have one, he is personally asking for our help. As individual Sertomans we can help purchase a pair of new shoes for a grade school child that walks as much as two hours a day to get to school. Tom will stash as many of these pairs of shoes as he can in his allotted luggage (he has two helpers) and deliver them. Shoe sizes 5-10, new leather tennis shoes only. FAS 829-7762 Carmen Green Hoof it out to your nearest discount store and buy a pair to send with Tom.

| Some issues have been raised concerning the Sertoma Sunshine efforts. As a
group we do want to acknowledge the good things that happen to the people in
our club and provide moral support when things are not so sunny. Mary
Marana, as one of the chaplains, has agree to be the coordinator of our
efforts. Her numbers are as follows; 828-4539 or
