The program today was mainly a farewell to our outgoing President,
Steve Mau. Steve took the opportunity at the meeting and at the
induction ceremony which was held the same evening on the beach
at Confidence Learning Center to thank all the people who did
outstanding work and made his job easier. That included Dave
Clausen, Darren Larson, Missy Lake, Joe Schulte, Julia Sullivan,
Bryan Jelinski, Bill Goers, Beth Burnard, Mike Howard, Kari
Barnes and Cathe Picek, Scott Fisher, Mary Marana, Bob Nibbe,
Karen Owen,
Jackie McCall, Steve Augustinack, Pam Sachs, Kari
Robinson, Tami Webb,Bob Ehrich and Charlie Bartels, Paul
Heinlein, and Lori Rubin. The club gave Steve a standing
ovation. At the Induction Ceremony several important club events
were recognized. Steve Augustinack received his plaque for being
named District Sertoman of the Year--chosen from about 500 total
members. President Mau named Lori Rubin and Paul Heinlein
co-rookies of the year for 2006-2007. District Governor Gary
Walters conducted the ceremony and many of people named above
were honored with plaques. Julia Sullivan began her reign as
President with a heartfelt speech about how Service to Mankind
runs in her family. A special note of thanks to our wonderful
chef Gary Loge who prepared the prime rib for the evening. Nancy
from Chocolates Etc also brought dessert, wonderful truffles
that she made for the occasion. Tom Krekow brought his
professional camera to take the photos that will eventually be
part of the plaques presented. Thanks to Camp Confidence for
hosting this fun event. |

| Announcements |
| Elections are coming up right after
our vacation next week. Julia is still contacting people
about filling some of the spots, but be prepared to vote!! |
| Thanks to the Brainerd Public Utilities
people for re-drilling all the holes for the flags which
were cemented in by the road construction crew. The
Winter Wonderland project has received its official go
ahead and we will be working with this group on that project
also. This exciting new event will eventually provide around
$70,000 a year for Service to Mankind projects. Our Pipe and
Drape has had an excellent year thanks to all the hard work
of people like Scott Fisher and Kari Barnes. Currently
income has soared from $42,000 to $74,000. |

Tom Krekow added his considerable talents to the mix to
produce some very professional picture of the Fiesta as well
as the Golf and Fishing. Camp Confidence and Sertoma thank
him for his efforts. Pam just bumbled along and took her
usual stuff!! Tom created an excellent collage for all three
Classic events. Click here for the Mariucci photo collage. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
It is only appropriate that we put the picture of our illustrious
treasurer and Sertoman of the Day, Darren Larson, with his wife
Sarah. Darren shared a great deal about his wife who is a third
grade teacher and an expert golfer with the group. He certainly
got razzed at the evening induction about his comment, "Not
every Sertoman can say that their wife is getting better looking
each day." Darren was actually referring to the recent birth of
his daughter who joins her 28 month old brother in completing
their family. Darren works at Northern National Bank, the only
local bank in the area. He's a business banker but has many
roles at the bank including technology and product development.
He invited everyone to check out their Pick-A-Term CD with a
special 5 1/4 % interest. The Northern National Bank has 30
local employees at the four branches that comprise the entire
bank. Darren is from Alexandria and he originally joined Sertoma
there. His sponsor in Brainerd was Mike Boen. He attended the
University of North Dakota and received a Master's Degree from
St. Cloud. He likes to run, he's a basketball referee, and a
teacher for St. Scholastica. Thanks Darren for all your hard
work as treasurer and for all the improvements you have made to
the accounting system for Sertoma. His most embarrassing moment
involved being in the wrong part of Hollywood in a red
convertible. |

Which outgoing president was heard to remark, "You people shush
or I'll beat the h_ _ _ out of the bell." Although Steve did try
to say being president was an easy job, he has only made it look
easy because of his great attitude!
-
Our treasurer's definitely a member of the technology era--he
and Sarah met online. There was some mention of "being
desperate" so we thank Sarah for saving him.
-
Bill Goers has decided to run for sheriff because he was such a
big success in his military role as sergeant.
-
Wells Fargo--why is Brian always laughing when he says that?
-
Congratulations Nate Grotzky on your new job.
-
Hmm first the naked streaking story and now the brush with the
alternate lifestyle. There are hidden depths to those banker
guys.
-
Bill Goers actually had two offers for a ride to the induction
ceremony--how quickly they forget when the power is gone!!
-
Kari Barnes needed to go the Body Works--she would have gotten
her limb repaired sooner.
-
The sergeants are taking up a collection to buy Anna Gorecky a
pair of pants without holes. Your generation gap is showing
fellas.
-
Happy 15th Anniversary President Mau!
