We
always love the visitors who bring “free samples”. Today Bob
Sullivan, Owner and Operator and Heidi Rogge, Sales and Marketing
Manager from the Three Bear Lodge and Water Park (Holiday Inn
Express) joined our meeting to talk about their facility which is
now open for business. We especially liked the part about free
pens, free shirts, free water park passes and free bottles of
their special “theme” shampoo. Their breakfast bar features
homemade warm cinnamon rolls so that is the fragrance of their
shampoo also.
Kudos came from the audience for this operation. They were
complimented by Linda Twaddle for already becoming involved in
community efforts since they purchased a tree for the Festival of
Trees already last year. Other members of Sertoma expressed their
thanks for the use of local businesses in the construction of the
Lodge which contains the areas largest water park
featuring three slides, a lazy river, a 1000 gallon dumping
bucket, two hot tubs (one adults only) activity pool, game room
and snack bar. Cost for a day pass is $11.99 and there are special
birthday and group rates. As Bob stated the water park is great
fun, “It’s all geared for me and I have never been able to grow
up”. In fact he took the first slide even before the water. Yes
the tubes go outside without insulation, but they didn’t seem too
worried about freezing up in the winter.
Also
of
interest was the conference room which is available for business
meetings up to 85 people that can include breakfast, lunch and
dinner. They do not have an actual restaurant, but the breakfast
and snack facilities are adequate to keep the guests and water
park attendees from thirst and hunger.
We are invited to their Open House on July 14th from 4-7:30
p.m. If you are adventurous, bring your suit and jump in. Winners
of the free shirts were Jackie McCall and Dave Bergin. |

Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you

A special heartwarming report from our Kinship Walter, Gary
Walters. Rory talked about Gary’s return to Brainerd when he was
actually speechless with pride. He is especially proud of his
three children who learned “The world is more than they are and
quitting is not an option.” Gary doesn’t want to walk anywhere any
more but he claims he has more ideas for next year. Sertoma
contributed over $3000 and many were directly involved in the
support team. |

Camp Sertoma sent a thank you for the $2,000 donation for camper
sponsorships this year. Remember to come to officer initiation for
