Linda
Anderson, former member of the Noon Sertoma Club, was scheduled
to share the latest fundraiser for Erika Dalquist with us today,
but was unable to make it. Robin Loftis agreed to be her
stand-in and presented the particulars. The event is scheduled
for July 17th at the Randall VFW with food, a raffle, an auction
and music. Even though Erika has been found, the expenses for
the private searches that were conducted still have to be paid.
This may be a bit of a journey for most of us, but we are really
asked to become involved in the online auction which takes place
after the event and sponsored by Midwest Captions. Things you
can bid on include Terry Redland prints, a DVD,
golf-restaurant-and casino packages and many more. Anyone
wishing to contribute items to be included on the auction can
contact Linda Andersen at 218-825-3762. To take part in the
auction go to www.brainerd.com
July 19th-26th and be sure to forward the message which you
will be receiving in the mail soon to everyone in your address
book to get the word out. |

the water tower but has his team covered), Dave Burggraff, Karen
Owen, and Milo Johnson. This is a great way to spend a few hours
and contribute to the club. Volunteer to be part of a team and
step up next time to be a Captain. |

Schedule |
|
Remember: Greeters
(Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting people
at the door and getting the ticket money counted and divided
with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for the
social committee's budget). As greeter you have several duties.
You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to
greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket
if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided
by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

Sertoman of the Day

Rhonda
Mareck is another one of those new Sertomans who has become
involved quickly. Sarah Nelson is her sponsor and encouraged her
to join Sertoma because of all the organizations in the area,
this one gets the credit for being the most fun. Rhonda has
already been out putting up flags. She has many hobbies; the
most interesting one was shopping. She collects purses and has
fifty three. She also takes lots of pictures and likes
scrapbooking as well as travel, golf, reading, baking pies and
spending time with family and friends. She is originally from
Albany, attended CLC and finished with a degree in Mass
Communications from St. Cloud. She worked as an Interior
Designer at Hirschfield’s before coming to Brainerd to work at
the Brenny Funeral Chapel. Joe is actually her stepfather so
that is how she became involved. She went back to school to be
trained to help people to preplan their funeral arrangements.
Her actual title is Pre-need Specialist. Brenny’s is located in
Baxter and has other branches in Staples, Cross Lake, and
Randall. Rhonda was playing in the State Golf Tournament during
her high school years and got to the last hole where everyone
was watching and sailed her golf club almost into the audience
when she hit a rock. This is her most embarrassing moment to
date. |

Of Note: |
|
|
Aimee
Spitzack, Marketing Director from Confidence Learning Center, was
a special guest at Sertoma today. She came to extend her thanks to
all the Sertomans who volunteered at Camp this past week. Camp
staff consists of 8 people normally but because so many Sertomans
are willing to volunteer, they have the staff to feed hundreds.
She singled out the committee chairs for special thanks including
Pam Sachs, Milo Johnson, Tami Webb, Jo Lovitz, Denny Benjamin, Bob
Ehrich and Dave Burggraff, Gary Loge, Scott Fisher, Reed Campbell,
Pete Odell, Amy Doyle, and Joyce Anderson. She made a special
presentation to a very special person who headed up the food
preparation, Charley Bartels. Chuck took this opportunity to say
some very heartfelt things about the St. John’s Lutheran Church
kids from Wisconsin who are very instrumental in the cooking
process. He said, “I would like to give special recognition to a
beautiful bunch of kids whose enthusiasm and helpfulness are
unbounded.” He jokingly remarked that it was thrilling to see the
Sertomans getting their hands dirty also. If Ina Luca or Joyce
Anderson is reading carefully, this is their notice to collect ten
dollars with a simple phone call. |

Our prayers go with Kathy Williams who is spending time with her
sister who is very ill. |

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the
newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from
reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS
followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just
leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to
collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never
respond.

Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our
new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy
to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any
photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow
Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job
or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life.
If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new
