Erin Anderson Today Sertomans enjoyed the visit of Erin Anderson. Erin will be a senior next year at Brainerd High School. She is going to be spending June 30-July16th in Holland as a member of Sportsquest. This is a group which sponsors Christian athletes to work as student missionaries in foreign countries. Erin has been to Chicago and Mexico as a member of this group. Erin remarked, "I am looking forward to speaking to Dutch youth about the Lord." For Erin to go to Holland, she needs to raise about $4,000 to cover the cost of the trip. She has already managed to find most of the funds but is still in need of $1779. She is asking for donations of any size from any private person, business or club willing to donate.

Erin shares a special talent that endears her to Sertomans. In addition to her other many talents and her strong faith, Erin has become interested in sign language. In the fourth grade, she met a boy in her class who could hear, but could not speak. His use of sign language intrigued Erin and she began to study it. She is currently taking sign language in school as a foreign language. Her aunt is also connected to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Erin is looking forward to working with her aunt who owns a company called 'Sport Sign' which specializes in signing local sporting events for hearing impaired and deaf individuals. Hopefully, Erinšs connection to Sertoma can include her becoming involved in Camp Sertoma which is the Brainerd Chapter's summer camping program for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Camp Sertoma is in its second full year of operation and is planning a full and active summer of camping activities for its week-long sessions. For more information on Camp Sertoma go to http://www.campsertoma.com.

Erin left Sertomans with a very good impression. She is a bright and determined young lady and it was an honor to have her visit our noon meeting and share more about her accomplishments and goals.

Sertoman of the Day

Robert ThielenRobert Thielen, the Sertoman of the Day had a very interesting and unique presentation. Unfortunately, he decided to revise his info for the newsletter and has not gotten back to the editors with his notes. So all we can tell you about our elusive new member is that he is highly entertaining, was sponsored by Sandra Ehrich and works for PC Care. FAS 829-7761 Matt Engen
