Impromptu Presentations by Members

David Pundt is a member of the Relay for Life Team to raise money to fight cancer. The team has an ugly purple toilet to place in people's yards or places of business. People who don't want the toilet on their lawn or place of business need to donate a generous sum to the effort. See Dave to send the toilet to your favorite people.

Brian Lehman also presented the Nisswa City Park Project for Nisswa Lake. Our Nor-Son rep and Jim Grant's Electric Company got a plug in for their participation in the Gull Lake Center at Grand View Project. Kathy Williams son was project manager. Brian talked about the fishing pier and boat docking which will be part of this park project. A swimming beach and boat docking facilities at one time were available through private enterprise. A group of concerned citizens decided to get this project going to provide a swimming area for Nisswa area children. In the spring of 2007 the DNR was involved and planning a public landing but due to lack of funding weren't able to purchase any of the property. This group has assurances from the owners that they will have time to buy 3.7 acres including over 200 feet of lakeshore. This project has received wide spread support including some help in purchasing the land. A committee was formed to design the park and BLADC has some smaller funds available. This park has regional significance because it will add to the four public beach areas in Crow Wing County and will be very accessible by the people using the Paul Bunyan Trail. The initial fund raising goal is $170,000 cash and the next four years will either mean fund raising and/or bonding to finance. Hopefully the DNR will be on board and make it happen quickly since the committee has applied for two separate grants which will total a million dollars if they are awarded. Brian has all the information available electronically at lehmanconsulting@nisswa.net. This park will offer a great deal of impetus for the tourist industry. Brian feels that the project has 95% support in the Nisswa area. Brian is simply a committee member working as a co-chair citizen. One possibility for raising a great deal of money is selling the naming rights for the park to offset the cost of the land.
Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes, Bonnie Cumberland for taking attendance and Sue Slaybaugh for taking notes.

Sertoman of the Day
Jayme Holmes was today's honored Sertoman. Craig Dunmire who owns Kinetico as well as Ernie's on Gull has provided two very active workers when he encouraged his employers from Kinetico to join. Kinetico offers a wide variety of water services and their big selling point is the fact that very little electricity is involved in the process. He is married to a former DJ for Mike Boen, Michelle, and they have three children-14,12, and 4. The kids are very active in sports. His hobbies include drag racing--he has been racing 17 years and mainly in the motorcycle division. Jayme has sixteen years in the water business. He has been at Kinetico for 6 years. The following is a testimonial about his work at Kinetico,
East Gull Lake Water Nightmare Ended

Kinetico has ended our extremely bad water (tannins and iron), yellowish brown toilet tanks, toilet bowls, and bath tub & shower water. After 23 years of having several different water softener companies we took the Kinetico plunge. The water is now fantastic. Previously weekly salt usage ranged from 20 to 30 lbs. Per week. Now it is only 8 to 10 lbs. Per week.

Jamie and Roger did a great job on the removal of the old system and hook-up of the new Kinetico. Spending approximately $5,000 was a very tough decision but now that we are enjoying 365 days a year of pure, clear, no smell water I know we made the right decision.

Bill & Ginger

Jayme was in service and installation when he started at Kinetico, but now he is in sales. His most embarrassing moment occurred at a race trying to load his bike. He knocked himself off his bike trying to load it in the trailer.

Of Note
Sympathies and prayers to Jeff Marchand and his family. Jeff lost his father this week. Also keep Jim Grant in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from Knee surgery. He was a happy camper though, he was a new grandpa this morning. He is in the first week of a six week healing process but did manage to stump to Sertoma on his crutches today.

Big thank you to Steve Mau for his two years service as Chairman of the Board.

Kathi Williams got the I Believe in Sertoma Award for recruiting new members.

Business Notes
It is not too late to donate something for the silent or live auction at the Mariucci Fiesta. Contact Joyce Anderson or Veronica Jensen.

Rumor Corner
  • Nanci Hallam is sporting a nifty new sumer hair do.
  • Mary Marana either had a crisis or she couldn't skip lunch with her new grandson.
  • Lucky Bryan Barrer is headed for a ball game and free tickets to Kenny Chesney and Sugarland!! I am packing myself up in his trunk.
  • We had loud ringing and country music to start our meeting today--the microphone didn't work so everyone had to holler. Bill Goers got the thing going halfway around.
  • Mark K is counting down the three weeks until he is no longer Pres!!
  • Uncle Art wanted to know if the mosquito control suggestions worked in Baxter--Bill Goers suggested maybe for toilet paper.
  • Bill made an enemy--me accusing me of taking too many pictures of Charlie Bartels at the Mariucci Fiesta.
  • Mark Korte accused David Pundt of having a crappy job and then encouraged us to keep all our secrets about our maybe future governor Paul Koering.
  • Happy Anniversary to Dale Bolt--32 years of wedded bliss.
  • Joyce Mikesh paid a happy fine for her move to social security.
  • Mike Boen told a radio joke. It was a guillotine joke where the crew from his radio station were being executed. The general manager gets off and the station manager gets off due to technical difficulties with the darn machine. The techie (engineer) helps them fix the problem and ends up without his head--a little hint to Bill Goers who fixed the mike!
  • Steve Mau joined the estrogen group and paid a $2 fine.
  • Mike Boen fined Kathi Nagorski cause he spent too much time in the men's room reading the paper this morning.
  • With ideas like the purple toilet, Mike doesn't understand how David Pundt didn't get elected.
  • Mike told about MIchelle on the radio (Jayme's wife) doing an ad for Echo Bingo--she was calling it Echo and she was suppose say Bingo with an echoing sound. Then there was the color radar weather board and she had to label each corner to get the directions straight.
  • Mark Korte's son forgot to turn the burglar alarm on at Timber Mist--five a.m .cop visit.
  • Joyce Frid wouldn't explain $45 for sex on the beach--certainly a finable offense. We all want to know the rest of the story.
