Today’s
program featured a short recap by Rory of his goals for his year
as President. Rory began his more formal presentation at the
Installation Dinner held Tuesday evening at beautiful Ruttger’s
Resort. The food was outstanding with prime rib, three choices
of fish, and pork tenderloin served buffet style. Lynn Franz is
to be complimented again on a well organized event.
Rory began by saying, “I take pride in this organization and
its ability to give back to the community.” His first goal
involves the recently approved policy to measure participation
by both old and new members. This will encourage involvement for
everyone. To promote better understanding of the structure of
the club from Local to International, he would like to see the
membership spend more time learning about Sertoma and its
programs at noon meetings. Personally, he wants to help each
member grow with new approaches to old ideas. Preparing the
future leadership for their roles in the club is also an
important part of Rory’s plan. Recognizing the impact that our
club’s contributions have on individuals not just the community
will be a part of future meetings also. According to Rory, “If
you are willing to give your time and resources to the club, the
results of your efforts should touch your heart.” He concluded
his speech by remarking, “Let’s get passionate about Sertoma and
that passion will help us do the things that affect people’s
hearts.” He also discussed the recent International Convention
in Kansas City.
Jim Potvin concluded his presidency with a short thank you to
all his officers and an expression of appreciation for
everyone’s help in getting him through his term in spite of
embarking on a new career. He is especially proud of the fact
that his goal of bringing some new fund raisers into the club
came to fruition.
Honored guests at the dinner were Rory’s family; Tami Webb,
District
Governor;
Dave Burggraff, International Director, and two Camp Sertoma
Cooks-Wayne Plagge and Greg Fautz. New officers installed
included Steve Mau, 3rd VP; Joyce Seymour, 2nd VP; Dave Clausen,
1st VP; Kristine Welle, Secretary; and Joyce Anderson,
Treasurer. Check out the MSN Photo Link for more installation

Find a Sawbuck Corner: Call 829-7761
The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the
newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from
reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS
followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just
leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to
collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never
respond.
