A
special guest joined the Brainerd Noon Sertomans today to talk
about her new program at Central Lakes College. Vicky Kapitzke is
a new Spanish instructor who joined the faculty after marrying her
husband who teaches religion and philosophy at CLC and completing
her masters program. She is tri lingual, speaking fluent Spanish,
German and English. She wanted to encourage us to become involved
in her evening classes which will be geared to non-traditional
students who wish to expand their knowledge of the language in a
specific area including nursing, law enforcement and business. The
classes will be focused on worthwhile exercises and vocabulary
that directly relate to jobs.
Vicky also invited us to their Festival which will be a
fundraiser for the Spanish Club. It will be held October 8th
starting at 1 p.m. at the Arboretum. It will include food, dancing
lessons (salsa dancing), and crafts for children. A Spanish
cookbook will also be available for sale in our area. Cost is $10
for adults and $5 for children. |

| Announcements |
| Pam has purchased a small camera for the
use of the club. It will mainly be available for Sertoma
functions that Pam is not able to attend. It is very simple to
operate and can be attached to any PC with a USB cable and
will download pictures without installing software. It has a
rechargeable battery with a very portable charger that can
also be “taken along”. For example, we could have had “real”
time pictures for last week’s newsletter from our President
Dave Clausen from the International Convention in New Orleans.
If you need the camera—Pam will have it at the meetings. |

Schedule |
| Remember:
Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

The Fiesta was a topic of conversation at the Wrap-Up Meeting held
at Confidence Learning Center last evening. As an organization, we
received an award certificate from Mary Harder, Volunteer
Director, at today’s meeting. The food received rave reviews
thanks to all the cook’s helpers that made the job easy for Julia,
Charlie and Diane, Scott Fisher and Reed Campbell received kudos
for the handling of beverages, and everyone who contributed can
consider themselves recipients of a warm fuzzy thank you from
Camp. |

Twenty two Sertomans are participating in the Relay for Life which
was held on Friday September 29th. Because of a generous donation
from the club, over 50 luminaries for Sertomans with cancer help
illuminate Don Adams Field. |

Our President was inspired in New Orleans to continue with the
Christmas Lights Project after talking to other much smaller clubs
who have bigger sponsorship budgets. The thing they all have
common are one big project which brings in the majority of their
money. |

community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the
opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as
