Program
Brainerd Sertoma - President Rory CoitRory took the time to end his Presidency on a high note today. He deserves a great deal of appreciation from the club for his willingness to serve “double duty” when Jim Potvin resigned from Sertoma. The past year has been an eventful one with the group making a huge impact on the Community. Some of the high points of the past year are:

Including the monthly board report as a regular part of the program

A flag project that includes 378 flags and a successful and highly praised program much appreciated in the community. One flag story related at today’s meeting was about the wife of a service man who came up with tears in her eyes and thanked the Sertomans out putting up flags.

Rodeo Food booth
Increase in Pipe and Drape capabilities with ordering of new equipment and partnering with the new Bemidji Club on their 50 units.

Launching of the Christmas Lights Project

Rory looked forward to some exciting new things in our future which could include the Sertoma Park and does include the Regional Convention at Maddens in the Spring of 2008. This convention will definitely showcase the Brainerd Lakes Area and our club.

Thanks to the whole group—over 4,000 hours of service to the club contributed by all the members who completed the record slips and probably a whole lot more. Special thanks to Rory’s team: Bonnie Cumberland, Jeff Birks, Jason Bertram, Karen Owen, Sandy Kleist, Kari Robinson, Beth Burnard, Mike Howard, Dave Clausen, Joyce Anderson, Kristine Hoheisel, Steve Mau, Jeff Kozitza, Julia Sullivan, Bob Ehrich, Charlie Bartels, Bob Nibbe, Jackie McCall, Steve Augustinack, Pam Sachs, Bob Sherman, Denny Benjamin, Tami Webb, Joe Schultes, Nancy Hallam and Jinny Haugen.

Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes!!!!

As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. Sertoman of the Day
Sertoman of the Day - Dave ClausenDave Clausen took a moment to reintroduce himself to the Club. When he joined under the auspices of Dale Bolt five years ago he was a fun loving bachelor with a job at Piper Jaffray.

Five years later, he and his wife Andi have two children and he continues to work in financial advising with the same company which is based in Minneapolis and has branches in 30 states. He has purchased a home in Pequot Lakes on Sibley Lake. He loves what he does and took the opportunity to recognize the others in the Club who give the Brainerd Lakes area many alternatives to choose from and get reputable reliable help on retirement and growing wealth issues. He is looking forward to the presidency and is amazed at how much “politics” is actually involved in running a service club.

Dave acknowledged his term in office as a sergeant is haunting him but promises not to be as “long-winded”. He did admit that he had a lot of fun being the sergeant and I personally remember some great laughs. When he skipped the most embarrassing moment part, Mike Howard predicted it would be at the installation when people would get a chance to view him through the glass bottom of the boat when he falls overboard. Dave got involved immediately with the Rookie Party and serving on the social committee before going on to his sergeant role and getting elected vice president.

Of Note
Take a moment to reflect on your leadership role in Sertoma. The club needs every one of its members to make things work. We have many exciting new projects and some great old ones to work on the coming year. Express many thanks to Rory Coit for a job well done and welcome our new President Dave Clausen.
