Program
Dave is pictured with the Zambian Choir. We have Paul Bloom and the Rev. David Uhrich of Christ Community Church to thank for our wonderful musical program today. Dave is pictured with the Zambian Choir. If they let him join their membership, they have decided to change their names to "The Oreos". Josephat Mbenga, Sylvester Pupe, James Mbewe, Webster Munchini, Richard Fulumana and Godfrey Tambo found each other in Zambia in the early 1990's and arrived in the United States in 1993. Take a good note of those names because one of them might be the future president of his country. This group of Christian young men is representing the Zambian children as vocal ambassadors for their country. All of them came from humble beginnings. If you wish to find out more about the group, go to their website at http://www.zambianvocalgroup.com. They are currently all enrolled in school in Texas and are studying things like computer science in the hopes of going home and making a difference. Touring and sharing their music takes up most of their summers. They have given concerts all over the area and performed at the Gospel concert that was part of our Fourth of July festivities. Their unique "singing from the heart" music tells a story and even when it is not in the English language conveys a powerful message. The group was presented with a free-will offering at the end of their mini concert. FAS 838-5190 Christine Kellet They seem to have a unique and special relationship with Reverend Uhrich, perhaps The Oreos have a future after all. Thanks for braving the mosquitoes to come to Minnesota and sing. Reverend Uhrich would like to get them to come back in January so they can "walk on water" and see what a Minnesota winter is like.

Sertoman of the Day

One of our youngest members, Jared QuadeOne of our youngest members, Jared Quade who is only 23 years old and the sales manager at Northern Spring PCS was the Sertoman of the Day. Jared gave an excellent and entertaining view of what it was like for many of us older Sertomans to be starting out in life with a fresh view of everything. Jared was very entertaining with his anecdotes about things like The Rice Lake Militia and his youngest sister, Tipper the Bulldog. Jared was born in Duluth and his parents still live there. He has a brother and a sister in college. In 7 years in the work force he has held 12 different jobs, however his present year at Sprint has been the longest and the most rewarding. He did mention that he was the first person to rip a ticket stub for the Omnimax Theater in Duluth. His hobbies include anything that means not sitting there and doing nothing. He waxed enthusiastic about traveling and included going to the Caribbean and a NASCAR race in Chicago on his agenda. When speaking of his many embarrassing moments he said, "Generally I'm kind of a moron so I call them learning experiences." His ambition is noteworthy "To be a balance of success and integrity and to be remembered." Welcome to Sertoma Jared.
