Program
The program today consisted of a short Board Report followed by Winter Wonderland sharing. People were encouraged to contribute ideas, comments and questions. Steve Mau assured everyone that all questions will be answered eventually but the final accounting must be done before some can be answered. He was very positive about the progress that has been made on the project and very hopeful that it will reach its goal of giving back to the community by the end of the first three years.

Ideas

  • On Monday or Tuesday, open for no vehicle viewing including horse drawn wagon rides.
  • Round off the coupon to deal with less change or sell advance tickets as the discount and put those people in a rush line.
  • Build a heated cashier's booth.
  • More lighted signage at the Pond space.
  • Carolers, entertainment, live nativity scenes, and more vendors to make the Holiday Village bigger and better.
  • Involving other non-profits to share the work--especially encouraging them to volunteer.
  • Better system to prevent slippery roads especially in the gate area.
  • Traveling display for advertising.which could also become a permanent parade entry for winter and summer events
  • Building our own displays maybe with the cooperation of the school or college.
  • Fireworks for slow or special nights

Comments

  • Lower concession pricing
  • Move traffic when cars are there and ready to go but keep first few days the same--long lines show big interest
  • Between 1/2 and 2/3 of our membership put in volunteer hours. The final tally isn't in yet.

Questions

  • What is the cost of the rental equipment--what do we expect to pay for this in future years?
  • Who will chair the committee next year?
  • Is BL Broadcasting committed to continue helping with advertising?
  • What is the actual cost of lights and infrastructure?
  • How do we involve other non profit organizations?
  • Are we protected from liability?
  • How long is the Arboretum committed to our project?
  • How can we market the whole project more efficiently?
  • How can we bring more "Christ" back into this Christmas event?

Board Summary

  • The addition of Ted Anderson from Budweiser keeps our number at 169 with the drop of Tracie McFarland.
  • We are matching an additional $250 grant given by the Sunrise Club to add an additional scholarship to the ones already given to CLC students from Sertoma.
  • John Raboin discussed by-law issues and the recent survey
  • Great in 08 was a topic of discussion.
  • Minutes will be emailed for further details.
Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes.

Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you can't be there.

Business Notes

Rumor Corner
  • President Sullivan had to get mean with her gavel and bell today to keep our rowdy large crowd focused on the important tasks at hand. The sergeants went way overboard on the fines and had a very good time today.
  • The Dog Pound became the Puppy Pool when the rookies got to the meeting early and desecrated the sacred ground. Brian Kirkpatrick was so flustered about sitting elsewhere he forgot he was retired.
  • Lucky Karla Nelson won the Pot--last time she dumped her quarters on the counter of the local libation establishment where she was purchasing celebratory liquids for consumption at home. Inquiring minds want to know where she spent this windfall?
  • Catalytic Converters burglarized at Confidence--reports are Big Mike has them and Alexandria Sertoma raffle tickets for sale. There was a mention of the Cass County Sheriff being interested in one or the other.
  • Welcome back Sandi Fowler. She just narrowly missed being included in the you are too well dressed find that was handed out to Bonnie Franke and Diane Rook Johnson.
  • Joe Schulte has to stop biting people.
  • Dale Bolt is not Vanna White.
  • What is "Discover your Racks? Why did Pam get fined for discovering them? Was Mary just jealous of the picture in the brochure?
  • Bryan Jelinski and Jeff Marchand need to stock more dandelion tea at Cub Foods.
  • Jeff Olson paid an "I don't know where Bada Bings is" fine.
  • Is a certain Bremer employee known for consorting with porn stars at the fishing tournament in the family way?
  • Are Pam and Mary cheap dates? Is Steve Mau the cheap date? Why are they dating any way?
