Program
Dick EndresWith an imaginary drum roll and a flourish, President Tami Webb introduced a very special guest at today's Noon Sertoma meeting. Dick Endres, founder of Camp Confidence was pleased to come up to the podium and give us a bit of history to launch our year-long 25th anniversary celebration. Dick was very instrumental in the founding of the original club even though he has never been a member. He also dipped his hand into the golden barrel of tickets and came up with the lucky four winners of the Ultimate Fishhouse contest. Other special guests included Randy Rider from R R Handyman, Tom Martin from 3WI, and Coleen Faacks from Mid Minnesota Builders. The first place house buiilt by R R Handyman went to Rodney Schmaltz. ABC Semless and Simonson Lumber built their house for Brent Hoheisel. Hawk and his crew at Dreambuilder's Construction put together a fine effort for Ron Koering. And finally, Lakes Area Kinetico's well built house went to the only lady in the crew, Cindy Halbeck. A special thanks goes to Dan Holmes and the crew at Ace Hardware who not only displayed the houses but sold over 1,000 tickets.

Julia SullivanThe second portion of the program introduced Julia Sullivan to those of us who have not already made her acquaintance. She talked about herself and her 25 years of experience with Godfather's Pizza. She moved to the Brainerd area last year from Mason City, Iowa, because of the opportunity to own her own business. She is sponsoring Sertoma Night right before that elusive grand opening for those of us who were smart enough to keep our business cards that she handed out at one of the first meetings she attended. She will be glad to provide new members with a card also. She gave away some cute keychains and certificates for pizza after she encouraged us to take advantage of the Godfather's fundraiser. Pizza certificates that sell for $10 (especially popular at Christmas time) and earn the club $3 for every sale would be an option for our group at any time. Winners of free pizza included: Janelle Reilly, Tami Webb, Lori Redmond, LoAnn Reponen, Chuck Bartels, Brian Kirkpatrick, Lowell Carlson, Reed Campbell and Dave Bergin. Amy Doyle who was just accepted as a new member from the Grand Casino , donated some prizes as well. Lowell Carlson is going to the Teen Idols concert on February 7th thanks to the Grand Casino. Deb Ryan and Dave Bergin fas 829-7761 Chuck Whalen won coupons for 12 hour ice house rental on Mille Lacs Lake. Brian Lehman brought in a beautiful Lakes Country Journal Calendar that will grace Charlie Bartels wall.

Greeter Schedule
Remember: Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Club Treasurer (Diane Rook Johnson) and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you can't. Call Jeff Birks @ 820-5544 if you can't make it.
January 29 Cheryl Hills, Edie Hinman, Becky Hoff

Rumor Corner
  • Who wants to change her name to Veronica on the radio (maybe she wants to star in a remake of the Archie cartoons?)
  • Are Deb Ryan and Dave Bergin going ice fishing together?
  • Is Charlie Bartels going to win the lottery next--Mr. Lucky?
  • Brian Lehman is a clone--he has two badges so there must be two of him. Pam Sachs was extremely grateful for just one of him selling fishing tickets for the Jaycees and Camp Confidence on Saturday morning. Fas 829-7761 Joyce Seymour. We sold every single ticket we had--a record for the Triangle.

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:  http://communities.msn.com/BrainerdNoonSertoma/_whatsnew.msnw
