Everett Churchill Another change of pace speaker started out the New Year for the Brainerd Noon Sertomans. Everett Churchill spoke to the group today about the message therapy. Everett operates Pine Village Massage located near Walgreen's. This once occupation that was once considered rather risque is now becoming part of a growing movement toward natural healing in the United States. Consumers spend between $4 and $6 billion annually on visits to massage therapists. Consumers visit massage therapists 114 million times each year There are numerous indications that massage therapy is gaining acceptance and growing. Of the types of alternative care explored, people say they would be most likely to use massage therapy (80%), vitamin therapy (80%), herbal therapy (75%), and chiropractic (73%). Everett recommends this process to relieve many common problems with the neck back and shoulders. Although one does not need to be licensed to work in Minnesota, he is. Normally, a full body massage is $20 whereas a muscular therapeutic message is $40.

Sertoman of the Day

Mary MaranaMary Marana made the RASH decision to be today's Sertoman of the Day. Those of us who are not bRASH enough to know Mary very well, did not learn a whole lot about her personally. We knew she did not take out tRASH for a living but instead was an account executive for KLKS. RASHonally, we knew there was more to her life that being born in Bemidji, going to college., having two wonderful children Lane and Justin, and joining Sertoma in 1994 under the auspices of her sponsor Lynn Clough. We cRASHed head on into her illustrious career amongst us when she spoke of her GEM Award, told us about being rookie of the year, and added her Centurion Award. However, everyone will no doubt be RASHly congratulating her for being brave enough to share her most embarrassing moment which centered around oddly enough--a rash

Some issues have been raised concerning the Sertoma Sunshine efforts. As a group we do want to acknowledge the good things that happen to the people in our club and provide moral support when things are not so sunny. Mary Marana, as one of the chaplains, has agree to be the coordinator of our efforts. Her numbers are as follows; 828-4539 or 829-8212. Please contact her if you feel a card or flowers are appropriate.

It was bouncing baby boy time at the Ryan household for the New Year! Tim and Luke were born about 3 p.m. January 1st thus giving the baby derby prize to Deb Kohan who decided to split it with the new mom. Congratulations to our new secretary and her family of boys, boys, boys.
