Today
was Sertoma Day. We started with a speech from our Foundation
District Representative Rory Coit who urged everyone to attend the
Regional Convention in St. Cloud. He explained that it is the
responsibility of leaders to attend district and regional
conventions. Rory emphasized that everyone gets an opportunity to
share ideas and comes home inspired to be a better Sertoman. He
remarked, "We are a very different club from the traditional ones
which is both good and bad." There are a lot of good things being
done by Sertoma Clubs across the nation. Mark Stiegel, who is our
current District Governor. Visited and spoke after Rory to
encourage us to be "Wowed in St. Cloud" since that is his home
territory. He has been a Sertoman since 1992 and is on his second
term as District Governor. He is pledging $1 to the Sertoma
Foundation for every district member who attends the St. Cloud
Convention in 2007 and the Brainerd Convention in 2008. He also
encouraged all our new leaders to plan on attending a leadership
meeting which will be held in mid June. Mark will be visiting all
the other district Sertoma clubs before the convention and will
see us again in June since he plans on attending our officer
induction. Finally Dave Clausen gave the Board Report summary. The
minutes will be sent out by email soon. Dave thanked Heartland
Machine and Tool for its $300 contribution through a bill
deduction on our Pipe and Drape work. He also thanked Scott Fisher
for his continued work with membership and dues collection. The
big news is the purchase of an additional Gossamer Ceiling which
will allow us to cover both a wedding and the prom this year. |

As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.

| Sertoman of the Day |
Melody
Banks was definitely worth waiting for as Sertoman of the Day.
Melody explained that she has been married longer than she has
been alive. Her husband's name is Ron and they have two grown
children and 4 grandchildren. She works as the Community Relations
Coordinator for St. Joseph's Hospital which definitely goes with
her graphic design and marketing management training. She has been
with them for 18 years. Melody's hobbies include cross country
skiing, genealogy research, gardening, art projects, her
grandchildren, and she is about to take up serious horseback
riding. She joined Sertoma and her original sponsor was Bonnie
Franke. She took a short break from Sertoma to go back to school
but she has been in the picture since 1994. She was Club Secretary
and 3 VP as well as a GEM Award winner. Melody's most embarrassing
moment had to do with a rookie party, a minnow eating contest, and
Tom Rosenberger. |

Of
Note |
Diane
Rook Johnson took the time to explain to everyone that people
continue to note what a difference the flags have made in the
Brainerd area. She actually received a thank you present from
a veteran neighbor. |
Happy
Sixtieth Birthday Randy Phillips--his surprise part at Ernies
was fun as you can see by the photo.(green guy is Randy) |

-
Pam didn't mean to get the publicity crew in trouble--she
submitted the article in her guise as Camp Confidence news
director!!
-
Welcome back Andi Holmes--Sergeant Bryan almost committed a faux
pas by fining her but was forced to be kind!
-
Jim Grant should have been fined today--Pam does not consider
her table to be the "old folks" just cause a lot of us are
retired.
-
Rick Besmehn got fined for being manipulated today--actually he
was responding to Bonnie Cumberland's introduction as a "former
teenage mind manipulator". All of us in the education field did
have to throw in a buck on that one.
-
Did you know that you can even play "God" at a regional
convention? Talk to Melody for details.
-
Sergeant Bill wanted to know if it was too late to manipulate
Dale Bolt?
-
Dick Stoltman is a gold medal belly flop winner.
-
Gerry P actually missed the boat on his recent cruise.
-
Ron Morris is going to get an Insty Print Black Eye according to
Sergeant Bill if he keeps looking for Diane's concealed weapon.
-
Speaking of Sergeant Bill, he fined all the real estate people
today and then did some shameless advertising and fined himself.
-
Bryan Jelinski was in the siesta mode from his recent trip to
Mexico. Somehow Charlie came back from there with ambitions to
be a mortician.
