We
welcomed Scott Parson and Pete Olson from the Sunrise Club. They
visited to share the details of their big annual fund raiser, The
Liftathon. This unique program promotes fitness among student
athletes while raising money for their charitable causes. The
athletes simply pledge to take part in the activity which takes
place at 3:30 after school in the weight room on March 8 and 9
(visitors welcome). The goals for the student athlete is to
achieve something Scott called MPPO—accomplishing lifts aimed at
their size and weight. That way winners who get their name on the
hall of fame and receive shirts are not necessarily just those who
lift the most weight. We do however, have the proud papa of a
record holder for the most weight lifted in one of the
categories—Dick Stoltman’s son in ‘95. Pete and Scott thanked the
radio stations and the Brainerd Dispatch for their cooperation in
publicizing the event. Pledge sheets were handed around and those
individuals and businesses who pledged at least $20 will be part
of an thank you ad in the newspaper. If the pledge runs $50 or
more it will be mentioned on the radio. The members of the Sunrise
Club each become team captains and handle all of the money matters
leaving the kids to concentrate and their participation, setting
goals, and helping the community. The Sunrise Club meets at 7:30
on Thursday mornings at the Northwinds and is a small but mighty
group. Contact either Scott or Pete if you wish to contribute. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
|
| Remember:
Greeters (Be sure to take care of your duties that include meeting
people at the door and getting the ticket money counted and
divided with half going to Tami to give away and half to Diane for
the social committee's budget). As greeter you have several
duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job
to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a
ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be
divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club
Treasurer and half goes to the Club President along with the
bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you
can't. Call Patty Hartman. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
Joyce
Anderson gave us a little slice of her life today. Joyce has
worked for Bremer Bank for 21 1/2 years including Secretary to
Operations, managing the Supermarket Banks and currently working
as Relationship Manger with personal accounts. Joyce has been
married to her husband Tom for 17 years and they have and 8 year
old girl and a 5 year old boy. Joyce told us many amusing stories
about her children including her most embarrassing moment which
involved her daughter announcing that she had Joey sleep in the
closet at a ball game. Joyce has just finished a stint as
Treasurer and received kudos from our President for her work above
and beyond the call of duty. She also works part time in the
catering department at Timber Mist, does book work for her
brother, and will be visiting your businesses soon to get
donations for the Sertoma Mariucci Fiesta Auction. She has been in
Sertoma for nine years and was brought to the club by George
Moore. |

district officers meeting to get more training in running a
successful Sertoma Club. Our President stated, “Each club
including Alexandria, Bemidji, and St. Cloud was proud of their
fundraisers and the positive effect they have on their
communities” |

-
Kari got caught bribing a sergeant and Mike Boen wanted to know
if she tucked the dollar in his thong—not the only risqué moment
since that same sergeant was discussing the role sex plays in
not smoking with a certain unnamed Sertoma big wig who also
belongs to our club.
