Program
Maggie NelsonSincerity is written all across Maggie Nelson's face as she presents the FFA Creed to the Sertoma audience. Maggie was part of the program that included: Magnus Nelson, Helena Sewell, Phil Olsen, Aimee Parker, Scott Malloy, Julie Sather, Amanda Kohl, Carla Koering, Emily Segler, and Amanda Moe. This group presented an excellent example of how to conduct a meeting . The group won the Regional competition in Parliamentary Procedure and is headed to the state convention in May as is Maggie. FFA is an outstanding organization for young people that is near and dear to me. In my years as English instructor at Motley High School, I coached many youngsters in preparation for the Creed Speaking Contest and know how hard these students work to achieve these honors. Having had the privilege of attending a national convention, I can only say that the values of America do not rest lightly on the members of FFA who wear their blue jackets proudly. The demonstration was very similar to the contest where the group must conduct a regular meeting including all the introductions of officers. They are then to proceed to deliberate on a motion and are given 6 tasks that must be accomplished while dealing withthat motion. At Sertoma these included: making a main motion, amending a main motion, amending an amendment, referring to committee, rising to a point of order and showing a division of the house. Many civic and public groups could learn valuable lessons from watching these outstanding young people work. Special compliments to President Carla Koering who was very poised and in control of the mock meeting.

Flamingo LoungeMarch13 - The Social Committee would like everyone who is planning at being at the Flamingo Lounge (Brainerd Elks) to see Elvis live . Tony Redmond comes highly recommended by one of our members and his bio uses expressions like "remarkable likenesses", "amazing Elvis impersonator", "his looks, his moves, his charisma and especially his voice will have the audience falling in love all over again with Elvis Presley, the King".
Our own John Nelson was among the 5 fish house winners announced at Mid Minnesota Builders. last evening. The good news is the rest of the houses stayed in the Brainerd Baxter area too.

Sertoman of the Day
Dean ZennerDean Zenner was today's honored Sertoman. Dean has been a member since January when he was sponsored by Sandy Fowler. Dean is an account manager for Pro Staff and married to his high school sweetheart Heidi fourteen years ago. They have two children. One of these is an 11 year old son involved in hockey that takes up a great deal of Dean's spare time. He loves all athletic activities including playing softball in the summer. fas 829-7761 Milo Johnson He enjoys spending time with his family. He was born and raised in the St. area and still lives there. This amazing man has no most embarrassing moments or maybe too many to mention and would really like to get more involved in Sertoma.

Notes
The fifth graders at the Brainerd Public Schools just completed their efforts in the Heritage Essay Contest. The contest is organized by Bruce Heilman and he is looking for willing Sertomans to act as readers and judges. fas 829-7761 Brian Kirkpatrick The three top winners are slated to read their entries on the topic of "When is freedom worth fighting for?" on March 20th. Winners receive savings bonds and their entries are published in the Brainerd Daily Dispatch also.
Find a Sawbuck Corner:
The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:  http://communities.msn.com/BrainerdNoonSertoma/_whatsnew.msnw
