Program
Junior Achievement Program - Sharon Severson The woman who stood before the crowd today used word like "rowdy", "enthusiasm", "high energy" and "positive role models" to try and encourage all of the Sertomans in attendance to consider signing up for the Junior Achievement Program. Sharon Severson is the District Manager for the program that encompasses 160 classrooms on a regional basis. Gary Phillips who introduced the speaker was very eloquent about he need for volunteers. His most telling argument was the fact that he firmly believed that the program "is more beneficial for the volunteers than the students." Only 20% of the people in our area have children in school. This program allows the rest of us to come in contact with the educational system and have a high priority impact on the future leaders of the business world. The program has spots for about 24 more enthusiastic Sertomans who would like to join the ranks of those such as Gary Walters, Carole Paulson, and Kim Hauglie, who had nothing but positive remarks to add to the speech. Prizes were handed out to those who were willing to sign up for further information. Call Sharon if you are interested at 831-3940 or email her at sharons@brainerd.net FAS 829-7761 Linda Anderson.

Note
The party to celebrate the winner of the membership drive continues to escalate. Randy Phillips came up with the plan to have Mike Boen entertain the winner as a last minute idea. Mike has agreed to not only entertain the winner, but also, all the new members that are brought in by that winner and all the significant others. The winner can have the dinner of his/her choice. There are even rumors of a possible limo being involved. Get out there Sertomans and get those new members. There's never been a better time to encourage people to join. FAS 829-7761Pat Kuss

No one won the photo contest on last week's web page. Photo one had Mark Korte, Mike Howard and Jo Lovitz hidden among the Mardi Gras participants. Picture two was the illustrious Mike Boen reclining on the coats after a hard evening of Christmas Holidaze partying at the Nisswa Legion. The final picture showed Bob Sherman peeking out of the White House.

Jim Park and Steven Wardrip did NOT collect their Sawbucks. Come on guys, it is very easy to find your name behind the FAS and the phone number 829-7761. Just call Pam before the next meeting and take the money and run!!!!!!

Thank you Kurt Olsen for showing up for your greeter responsibilities. This is getting to be a crisis situation--please pay attention to the greeting schedule. Does your name begin with "O" or"P"?

FAS  ~ Find a sawbuck reward. On-line newsletter readers can peruse the articles looking for their own name following the acronym fas. Call Pam Sachs before the next Monday and she will see that you collect a sawbuck if you attend the following meeting. This is President Mike Boen's innovative idea to encourage more people to read the newsletter online.

Some issues have been raised concerning the Sertoma Sunshine efforts. As a group we do want to acknowledge the good things that happen to the people in our club and provide moral support when things are not so sunny. Mary Marana, as one of the chaplains, has agree to be the coordinator of our efforts. Her numbers are as follows; 828-4539 or 829-2997. Please contact her if you feel a card or flowers are appropriate. Sertoma Sunshine
