Our unusual guest speaker was not just your ordinary fishing
"Joe". Ted Takasaki gave an inspirational talk that was not just a big fish story. Centering his ideas around the concept that making goals and writing them down can lead you from a so-so job with Hewlett Packard in the hustle and bustle of Chicago to a dream job as President of Lindy Little Joe in Brainerd, Minnesota, he encouraged everyone to think positively. Ted travels,
speaks, and breathes walleye fishing. He went from a weekend warrior to fishing lessons, to a few tournaments, to participating in the Master's Walleye Circuit and Professional Walleye Trail. He is considered one of America's leading walleye experts and won the prestigious PWT Classic Championship in 1998 as well as numerous other awards. The question and answer period at the end lead to Ted's philosophy of visualization .
"Picturing your success in your mind works equally well whether you are picturing the bottom of the lake and that big fish or your dreams for the future," commented Ted. He had only nice things to say about Brainerd and convinced everyone that we truly are one of the fishing capitals of the world!!

End of the membership drive. Now is the time to scour the bushes for new members because they not only get to join a great club, but they get invited to a steak fry at Mike Boen's. (P.S. You can also bring them to the
"surprise" spring social which will be held that evening also.) The Social Committee has definitely decided to hold its Spring Mystery Fling in spite of
the conflict with Governor Ventura's visit. Those not visiting with the governor can reserve that date
for a night of Sertoma fun as organized by our great social committee.

Sertoman of the Day
|
|
|
|
"Paul's my name and printing is my game" could have been the theme of this week's speech by Sertoman of the Day Paul Gropper of Lakes Area Printing. Paul's new job there is outside sales rep. He has been in printing since the age of twelve when he started working at his father's newspaper. His family consists of one brother and three sisters with accompanying nieces and nephews. His sponsor was Linda Fisher and Paul has been and always is a very active member who has his GEM Award and was Rookie of the Year. His main hobby is golf even though he claims to be pretty atrocious at it. |
