Board Report Highlights:
  • Three members were dropped: Rachel Schumer, Chris Villela, and Coleen McMurray. Kristi Imgrund was added to bring out membership to 160. Kristi has already volunteered at Winter Wonderland and Pam would like to thank her two wonderful children who helped out with the photos!
  • We will try to recruit some helpers from the Sunrise Club for Winter Wonderland. They have also asked us for a matching scholarship grant.
  • Discussion of storage resulted in the proposal to consider building at the Arboretum.
  • A dedicated phone line was also discussed.
  • Hearing aides were bought at the Radiothon for Child Abuse at a considerable savings. A request to pay for a repair was granted.
  • In order to help the Camp Sertoma Club become eligible for Foundation grants to help defer the cost of Camp Sertoma, our club will pay the $175 membership fee providing the club itself pays the application fee.
  • Beth Burnard has the flags for the Jaycees Tournament covered.
  • Pipe and Drape purchased 22 new tables that paid for themselves at Cragun's first use.
Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes.
Announcements
Winter Wonderland is a huge responsibility. Everyone is busy with their holiday plans but the final two weeks are short on outside workers. Talk to your employers and suggest a group volunteering night. Gather up your visiting relatives and put them to work! Please sign up on the website or contact Sue VanWagner if you can fill in some time. Perhaps you can share a shift with someone?
Buy your collector's ornament from Cathe Picek. They are $7.50. These limited edition ornaments depicting Winter Wonderland start a series and make great stocking stuffers or employee presents.
NO MEETING NEXT WED DECEMBER 24th. Winter Wonderland will be closed Christmas Eve and Day. Meeting scheduled for December 31st at Bonanza
Thanks to our hard-working waitress Randy who is pictured above receiving her "Christmas Bonus" from Sertoma. Randy works three jobs and has four children so she appreciated the gift.

It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you can't be there.

Rumor Corner
A Holiday Tale
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions.

Just read the story straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no
second rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one;

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
Easier?

The Lesson...

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care. Thank you Sertomans for caring.
