Program
Today was a day of two "mini" programs from two of our members. First of all, Lowell Carlson got up and spoke about his new position with HART. He really wanted to spread the word about all of the wonderful pets that are available right now for adoption. The shelter has processed 1100 animals this year. Right now there are some very cute puppies available--lab crosses and some interesting dalmation sharpe crosses. HART is looking for support. Many people donate food and other needed pet supplies at this time of the year. Volunteers to help care for the animals are always welcome. Animals are processed within 24 hours of their arrival at the shelter and are ready to go for an adoption fee and the agreement to spay or neuter if necessary. Then Mike Boen got up and talked Mike Boenabout the radiothon for child abuse that is scheduled for December 5-6th. WJJY, Cool 101-5 and BN93.3 will all be participating this year in the ninth annual event. It started back in 1994 and raised $12,000. In 2001 it was up to $60,00o from the auction, pledges and Santa Cause supported by Cell One. Last year and this year, the auctions have been much more exciting because of all the hard work of Sertoman Bob Sherman and his wife Ann. Auction bidders can go online to see an almost up to the minute idea of where the bids are on the many fine items that have been gathered up for sale. You can by your item or make your pledge for 24 hours from 12 noon December 5th through noon December 6th. Go to brainerd.com fas 829-7762 Brian Lehman and click on the icon that will take you directly to the website with the auction listings and lots more information. Each year Sertoma donates to the cause but Mike is hoping that more of us will get involved with individual pledges and auction purchases.

Greeter Schedule
Remember: As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10 minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate. The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half goes to the Club Treasurer (Diane Rook Johnson) and half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets. Be there by 11:45 and call somebody if you can't. Call Jeff Birks @ 820-5544 if you can't make it.
December 11 Sharol Gibson, Kevin Goedker, Jim Grant
December 18 Carmen Green, Paul Gropper, Chris Gross

Many thanks for the long hours of hard work that Steve Augustinack and his daughter Megan put in over the Thanksgiving break. They have completely reorganized the badges updating the names and neatly put them into three boxes. Thanks too to Pam for getting the database updated so this could be done.
Rumor Corner
  • The dog pound continues to be the source of considerable attention. Charlie Bartels claimed today that all they talk about is "dogs". He also got accused of being a little too cannabilistic when he mentioned eating the pet rabbit available at HART for adoption.
  • Mark Korte was also on a roll today. He complained because he didn't have a plate (he was even at the meeting last week when Tami explained that too many were wasted); and that was after he decided he didn't know who he was when the badges weren't at the door when he arrived.
  • The proud llama grandpapa is of course Rory Coit. Lynn Franz was proud to announce that her son has made Les a great grandpapa this week. By the way Lynn, what did happen to that arm?

The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life. If you wish to view the current photographs or check out the new online directory go to:  http://communities.msn.com/BrainerdNoonSertoma/_whatsnew.msnw
